She looked in disdain at a large, muddy puddle, examining her features and critiquing every flaw in her body. Her appearance was better then it once had been, and now Baala had the capability to be beautiful. She had filled out with a steady supply of food, her rib cage no longer showing (the markings over the bones had only highlighted how weak and malnurished she had once been). Her mother had been considerably larger then she was at her age, but then her mother had been part of a pride for her life while Baala had not. The environment had many influences upon her. At least she could take pride in her coat, which had started to gleam with health. She was on the right track.

Raising her head, she looked into the distance, spying Pride Rock, and briefly she wondered where Kiuma was. Baala knew of Kiuma's intentions to be reunited with her children, and that was mainly why Baala had hung back now. But a little part of her was filled with anxiety, Kiuma somewhat having filled the hole left by Baala's mother. She wanted to be under the red lioness's protection, wanted her guidance. They were fantastic together, hunting down bigger beasts then Baala had even imagined being able to defeat on her own. Baala was happy with Kiuma, more so then she had ever been with anyone else other then her departed mother.

But, she was getting hungry again, and barely knew these lands. Baala assumed she was fine being in them, because this was Kiuma's home, and Kiuma held about her a sense of being important. No one would trouble her while she waited for Kiuma to return. She flicked her blacked-tipped bangs back and away from her eyes, examining her green surroundings. It was definitely a beautiful pridelands, nothing like the jungle Baala had hung around before. She could tolerate the jungle, but the open spaces is what she longed for. It was understandable why Kiuma felt attached to this place.

Jina roamed the lands endlessly. The rain that came down the night before washed away any trail that she would have picked up of her mother. Seems she would have to start over, though she didn't really have a good start to begin with. Only what her father had told her of her mother led her on her journey so far. She stood, and looked out to the vast plane to see large dark puddles that spotted the landscape.

Though she forfeit the trail, the rains did bring a slight temperature drop. That she didn't mind one bit. She would rather have the cool air with her coat. Though it did give her a fine layer of insulation in the winter, the summers were brutal.

Then, a black and yellow cub caught her eyes. Her ears swiveled in her direction an her nose lifted slightly, sniffing the air to see if she could recognize the sent of the young one. The sent seemed strange to her though it didn't stop her from making her way over to the young one.

(( XD FYI, Baala's not a cub, but actually an adolescent. ))

Her eyes, icy blue and easily mistaken for being cruel, turned to examine the older black lioness making her way over to her. Distrust filled her, muscles tensing as she turned her smaller body to face the other. She tried to make herself look bigger and more intimidating, but she was still nothing compared to the hard muscles Kiuma carried. That did not mean she wouldn't give a good fight (or even lose in a good fight), because she knew how to fight. There were sensitive areas on a lion, weak and vulnerable areas that Baala knew how to get to. She could hold her own in any dangerous situation.

It was clear that Baala handled the life of a rogue differently then Jinamizi. She did not have a positive outlook on the world, and the fact that Jina was approaching her set her on edge. She bowed her head, bearing her teeth as a low growl rumbled in her chest. The hair on the back of her neck and shoulders stood on edge, trying to make her look as intimidating and fearful as possible. "What do you want?" Her voice was not nice, because Baala was not in any mood to be nice, not without Kiuma's protection. The possibility that she was being hostile to a Pridelander did not occur to her. Jina didn't smell like the lands, but that could be because of the recent rain.
