In Extremo are a folk metal band from Germany. They use a mixture of historical and contemporary instruments to make their sound. They sing in several different languages besides their native German, and their repertoire consists of both traditional and original songs. Vocals are gravely and rough, but not so strong that you can't understand what he's saying.
For beginning listeners, I suggest the albums Weckt die Toten! (Eng: Wake the Dead!), Verehrt und Angespien (Eng: Worshipped and Spat At) and Mein rasend Herz (Eng: My Racing Heart).
Does anyone love this band, as I do? I have for at least 8 years. I truly don't know another band that even comes close to their unique sound.
