i just need some advice. lately i've been thinking and doing along with dressing emo. i've even been checking out emo guys. is emo somthing bad to be as a christian?

well i was just thinking cause if my parents actually knew what emo was they probally wouldn't be too happy. its just that my friends say im emo even though i didn't think i was but with the...idk really what im saying but.... is the clothing adn thoughts about death and cutting and stuff okay to talk about as a christian since that what im suppose to be like?

As long as the emo culture isn't pushing you into things like cutting and encouraging thoughts of suicide, it's not really bad.

Just don't be a part of encouraging self-destructive behavior. Other than that, emo-away. It's fun to be in a sub-culture, just make sure that the culture doesn't come before your commitment to God.
He doesn't care what you wear as long as it's not causing you or someone else to stumble spiritually.

well, dressing a certain way is one thing and it's true that GOD doesnt care what you wear, but when you get to the point of self-mutilation(hurting or cutting yourself), that's one thing that you do need to get help to stop it.
In the ten commandments, one of them is "thou shall not kill" and that does not only apply to murdering people, that includes "killing" people emotionally and physically hurting yourself and or others. So yeah....God is not happy when people cut themselves. Most people who do have a reason for it and they need professional help.

I agree. I have often been called emo because of what I wear and the music that I listen to. Just don't hurt yourself, it's something that I regret.

I AM emo and this is what I have to say:
God won't look down on you, cutting and hurting yourself is just a lable, are NOT ALWAYS DPRESSED!, don't hate hate everybody, don't (always) want to kill (some do, I don't know how that works...), don't wroships Satan, Don't always wear black, are NOT evil, Can be happy too, Are usally nice people, Are normal people, just like us.

ok, not trying to be all huffy-puffy, but not all emo's are cutters, and not all cutters are emo...
if u cut becuz ur emo, ur stupid.
and well...ok-yea, i'm a cutter, i go by the title emo/goth.
but still...i have real depression issues, and real home issues.
ok-not going into it.
AND i also have had a history of suicidle thought, but it really offends me that ppl would think this is all b-cuz i'm "emo"
