If I am extreme, I am not extreme in the way you are
Against Nature's silence, I use action
I'm probably one of the few people who's actually excited about the dub.
I mean, either way it's a win-win situation.
If it's good, then we'd get a whole new perspective on certain characters just by their voice, and Death Note would be pwnsome on both sides of the Pacific, as should be. =)
If it's bad, then I'd get a good laugh out of how bad the VAs in thier respective characters sound. That's why I don't understand why some anime fans are so vehement to bad dubs; sure they "ruin" your favorite anime (and truly, if an anime is ruined for you just because of a dub, I'm wondering how much of a fan you were in the first place), there's always the original Japanese with subtitles on the DVDs (which gives you enough reason to actually go and acquire it legally when it's available), and you can laugh at it. Just look at Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged and Naruto Abridged. They have sheer comedic genius, and their inspiration? The dubs. So if the Death Note dub is bad, we'd have an abridged series to look forward to! 4laugh
I'd also like it if it would air on Adult Swim-though I'd like it anyway if it was aired on TV not too overcensored (I don't think Death Note would have too much censored. I mean, the only thing that you can really edit out is the amount of deaths or something, and rename it "Breath Note" xD ). Yes, fantards are in every fandom-trust me, I'm also in the Les Miserables fandom, and you'd expect so much intelligence from people who read 1000-page long novels and watch classic musicals, but there are still really bad fanfiction, bad fanart, etc. But Death Note has the ability to attract less fantards than say, any other mainstream shonen anime like Naruto, so we'd also get an influx of decent people who can hold their own in fanarts and discussions, too. And if you're tired of that, just go on the LJ Death Note comms. Because there's so much crack and intelligence at the same time, and not to mention pretty graphics.
Hey, I don't think Death Note will reach the level of Narutoism, but some of the fans can be just as bad, they just can type better. Look at this thread, for example. The OP said that she hated Death Note, and you have people flaming her saying stuff like "Death Note's probably too intelligent for you to understand. Go watch Inuyasha or something." Even though I too, though the OP's argument seemed weak, there's no need to be tactless towards other people if they don't have the same tastes as you do. :/

In the vast indifference, I invent a meaning
I don't watch unmoved; I intervene
