I need help on RPs that have to do with battling. I need to know some of the basics and then take it a step forward from there, anyone care to help me?
Also, why Godmoding not allowed in Rps?

I'll be happy to help. And to answer your first question, Godmoding is not allowed for simple reasons. Say someone is in a spot where they cannot avoid their opponent's next attack, or even guard against it. The attack goes through, essentially killing the person, and said dead person completely ignores it, even though there is nobody else in the fight. Now say you were the person that did the killing. How would you feel if the person you just killed completely ignored it?

Assuming you are speaking of free-form battle...
The most important thing is to never, ever, EVER dictate a character's actions if that character does not belong to you. The only character you EVER are allowed to post any action for, or control in any way is your own. If you attempt to control someone else's character, they will most likely become very angry. They have a right to be. Even if you are coming in with a killing blow that has no chance of missing, allow them to make that call.
Secondly, allow the other player to determine what hits and what does not. Describe how you are attacking, but never say whether you connect or not (Unless you are purposefully missing. That's allowed). This falls into the same realm as controlling someone else's character. You do not know what secrets that character has that can make them avoid the attack you think would hit.
Third, be a good sport. If two characters fight, one of them will lose. That's simply logical. Trouble is, most people NEVER want to lose, and it's understandable. However, a fight that never ends, with both characters being ultimate assassins that cannot miss nor be hit isn't exactly realistic nor interesting. If you're going to be hit, take the hit. If your character is outclassed, you'll probably lose. Remember, it's just a game, and it's just words. If you are so attached to a character that you can't bear to have them die a fictional death, you need to re-examine what sort of RP you are in. It's fine if you're attached, but if you are that attached, you shouldn't be fighting. Not only that, but you could play the character again in a different game. It isn't reality. Remember the difference. Furthermore, a new character is not a bad thing, it's a new opportunity.
Finally, make sure to be as descriptive as possible without over-describing. Re-read all of your posts. Can you understand what you are trying to say? Does it make sense, is it possible? Have you gone into to much detail and made a three paragraph post about 3 seconds of action, making it boring to read? Remember, quantity does NOT equal quality. Many 'advanced' RPers forget this fact, and will post inane dribble, just to fluff up their post. They can turn taking a sip of water into a whole paragraph. They miss the point. Don't fall into the same trap. There is a time and a place for everything.
