Guitar Compatibility - Rock Band & Guitar Hero III

What will the compatibility be on these two new guitars?

I'm talking about the new Guitar Hero III guitar for, say, Playstation 3 (or, rather, PLAYSTATION 3) and the Rock Band guitar for the same console.

I've been told that the Guitar Hero III guitar will work on Rock Band but the other way around won't be. Please say it isn't so because the Rock Band guitar is so much cooler!

It is cooler, but doesn't the Rock Band guitar have like, ten fret buttons? (Or were my eyes just playin' tricks on me >_>)

That's probably what would complicate things. Either that, or the buttons are set up completely differently, like maybe an orange would equal blue, or something. (I got a guitar like that off eBay once. xD)

It does have 10 fret buttons, five high and five low. Even then, I think it's just an extra set so that players can hammer on with both at one time.

Other than that, though, the guitars are pretty much identicle.

There are 2 sets of fret buttons on the rock band guitar. Each set does the same thing so in theory they could be compatible but I wouldn't think they'd be just because they're made by 2 separate companies.

(And btw, I think gh3 is cooler.) domokun

What do you mean? Why would you need to hammer on in two places? Do you mean so it's easier to tap with your right hand?

Considering that pretty much the same team that designed the GH series all the way up Rocks The 80s is making Rock Band... I think they will be compatible, but maybe not with GH3. GH3 is being made by a new team.
