I am a republican, if my posts didn't make it clear enough

I'm a moderate conservative. Though I lean heavily towards all out republican.

I vote Republican...in general the more conservative, the better. We have drifted so far to the Left that at this point I'd cheer a totalitarian Right-wing gov't...we can always overthrow it later.

People go on rants and raves. Only humorless boobs who are too stupid to separate fact and fantasy would be ignorant of this fact.

Repubican (meeting place):

I am either a moderate conservative or a conservative moderate. I have not yet figured out which. I remember back in high school (that seems so long ago) taking a political alignment test for an American Government test, and being almost dead center, though I have drifted further to the right since then (Amusing anecdote: upon seeing my results, my teacher told me to my face he had expected me to end up at or near "Fascist" on the test).

My real political hot button is Social Security. If things continue as they are, I will make huge payments each year into a fund I will never see any benefit from. The federal government should reserve Social Security for its intended purpose, and remove the decision to use it for federal "emergency funds".

I am a federalist of the old order, in that I believe the federal government requires enough power to smoothly maintain the functions of the nation. States should have their rights, but the federal government must supersede them when it is necessary for the good of the country. I also support a strong executive branch.

I am a nationalist, and believe that the American government should put the good of America first, the allies second, and the rest of the world last. Any decision made by the government should serve the best interests of the country. This includes the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, whatever the stated reasons may have been, because the benefits of securing friendly or neutral base in a traditionally hostile part of the world, as well as securing a source of the oil still vital to the smooth functioning of our country in the case of Iraq (as well as removing a traditionally hostile leader who had caused problems in the past and would likely have done so again in the future), outweigh the costs in public opinion, both within the country and from outside. Also, it proves to the world that our country still has the ability and willingness to maintain its status as a superpower, able to fight and win a war anywhere on the globe, acting as a deterrent to behavior contrary to our national interests.

That is me in short. I look forward to interacting in this guild with the other members, both those who share my views and those who oppose them.

On the political spectrum I'm completely moderate and could register as either party, but the national debt and the fact that in my state of Utah, Democrats are virtually powerless have driven me to register Republican. I'm heavily educated on politics and have been elected for a 2012 Republican Utah State Delegate. I think the more extreme on either side you are, the less will be done because the less you will compromise. I'm supporting Mitt Romney in 2012.
