Lets see.... Jack and daxter games are a nice, but I personaly prefer to play those with company (( good friends game if you switch turns between missions ))
The .hack ones I beleve where mentioned? Those are rather nice, but again as was mentioned the origonals where better than any of the GU series.
Anything Disgea is good, both games are amazing! and with ten possible endings to each game you can always come back to it! A rather good replay value if you ask me! 3nodding
Final fantacy (( insert number here)), is naturaly, popular. But I prefer to stay away from them, as they are so mainstreem if you even hint at the game around a fangirl you will never hear the end of it.... a good way to pass time, yes, and a good game but beware rabid fangirls.
Okami, I personaly liked that one. VERRY ORIGONAL! It's a wonderful game and It makes me sad to know the company went out of buisness shortly after makeing the game. They had so much potential that I think they could have even rivaled Square given half a chance. emo
So in the end, my recomendations:
Jack and Daxter series (( the first three))
.hack (( the origonal, not GU))
Disgea (( all ))
Final fantacy (( beware fangirls ))
Okami

I agree, Harvest Moon and Jack & Daxter may be a little different than what you've been playing, but they're refreshing in that sense. I liked both games a lot.

Oh yeah! I just thought of one of my favorite games, which I doubt anyone has heard of, but~
It's a PSX game, but it's REALLY, REALLY awesome. Beyond the Beyond. Check it out. It's like old school FF, but with it's own twist. The dungeons are a bit challenging to navigate, though, so you might want to go to Gamefaqs for a walkthrough. To be quite honest, I reccomend this game to D&D fans, 'cause it's very traditional fantasy quest w/ a sweetass storyline.

Not to brag, but I've always been an RPG expert of sorts.
Anyway, these are among the best games I can offer you, story and battle system wise.
Lunar: Silver star story complete: It's a rare game, but if you can get your hands on it, you will love it! It's an old classic, way before the final fantasies made it big with Final Fantasy 7. Rate 4.0 and 4.5 out of five. Anyone who has played this game, or it's sequal, loves it. It has a wonderful storyling, lovable characters and not too bad graphics for the early game it was. Also, the battle system is one of strategy, kind of like a much more fun version of Final fantasy tactics.
Tales of The Abyss: This is the best Tales game in my opinion. RPGs are all about the stories, and this one will make you cry in the end, I promise! First off, the story is nice and long so you won't feel cheated that it ended too soon. Plus, there's lots of character interaction and development and the characters are loveable. It's not the best grafics, but it does it's job pretty well. If you like platformers(like jak and daxter) and being able to move around the battlefield pressing the butttons and kicking a**, then you will like this game. There are no random battles, like Lunar, so you won't get annoyed if battle after battle after battle appear when you've only taken a few steps. Also, there is SO much to do in this game besides the main storyline and it's volentary. It's one of the few games, LIke Lunar, that makes you want to play again and again, a must have in my opinon.

May i point out to you ladies that Jac and Daxter is a PLATFORMER! (adventure game, like Crash badicoot) not an RPG.
