Setting - II


History:

The year is 1874, twelve years after the Great War. The War to End All Wars. World War One. After the initial unsuspecting attack by the Anglo-Russo Cabal was quelled and the invaders were pushed back into Russia, the Netherlands and the Slavic countries by the combined forces of the Brittish Empire, the European Combine and the UMAS (United Mexican and Amercian States) task force. Peace is held together by the tenuous Treaty of Warsaw, a document that granted Russia controll of the territories conquired in the Coalition's conterattack under the condition that they are not to have a standing army capable of striking beyond their borders as well as granting autonomy to Russia's smaller but unwilling allies that were conquired early on in it's assault: Swizerland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Latvia to name a few. Most view Russians with distaste and distain, if not open hostility, and they tend to stay in their own country, adopting a similar view of outsiders. Moscow and St Petersburg, however, are both the centers of foreign trade and as such are very multicultural and tend to be a little more open minded.

((Players have creative liscence with the history of the world and with national borders, race relations, that sort of thing. Just so long as you stick with this general outline and ask me before you suggest anything big you'll be fine. I always welcome new ideas so PM em to me.))

Technology:

Technological level is, of course, steam punk. Transport on a large scale is usualy by locomotive or zepelin (airship) and on a smaller scale horse and buggy altho there are independant steam cars available for the wealthy. Revolvers and bolt actions are as advanced as fire arms have gotten, anything fully automatic like a machine gun would be big, bulky, and require an ammo belt, tripod, and at least two people to opperate.

Story - III


On the mist shouded streets of neo victorian eruope rumors fly like wraiths and shadowy dealings take place under the very nose of the corrupt police force as they rush around trying to seem busy while all the while taking sneaked bribes and favors from their shadow lords. Theft, murder, racketeering, all these and more plauge the new found but uneasy peace that has settled over the world. But above all this are reports of air pirates like none ever seen that haunt the airways and shipping lanes of civilized society. They decend with out warning is incredibly fast craft with no visible baloon, instead a whirring propellor and long, stiff wings that flap mechanicaly like a birds. Atop these roaring ornithopters are seated a regiment of what appear to be clockwork men, men that kill mercilessly all on board and take whatever cargo the vessel was carrying. It is un known where they come from or return to after their brutal raids, but rumor speaks of an immense dirigible supported by hundreds of gas bags. An airship the size of a flying fortess stalking through the concealing clouds...

Rules/Format - IV


Rules:

1. Since your here in the guild I'll assume that your literate enough to pound out a paragraph, but just for the record please allow me to repeat that this is a literate roleplay. Now, most RPs you join grind out a big long list of rules about TOS and god moding and mary sues and crap like that, but since everyone in this rp is going to be literate I see little reason to go into all that. Just a few points to remember however:

a. You have two TOS documents to keep in mind, both Gaia's and Vanghar's. I know he mentioned profanity in his rules page and tho I don't mind swearing all that much in role play we will be respecting his wishes.

b. Heres a little known secret of literate roleplaying: sometimes it's ok to godmode. Not all the time, mind you, but if your wearing an impregnable suit of steam powered clockwork armor and everyones bullets just bounce off of you, they just bounce off of you. Believe it or not it can be a fun and interesting experience for everyone to play a situation where one charachter is simply more powerful than another. But keep in mind that everything like this should have some form of counter that your opponants could concievably get, armour piercing rounds or a flame thrower that could roast you alive inside your suit, for instance.

c. Auto hitting or controlling another charachter with out their permission is never cool.

d. Don't post a novel. I don't want to read three pages of text about how you stood up, pushed in your chair, and walked to the door and neither does anyone else. BUT...don't be affraid to be descriptive either. A paragraph or two is usualy perfect, but that can fluctuate. Most posts with mostly talking and little action will contain only a few lines. That's ok.

Format:

Now that I've done exactly what I promised not to and posted a friggin million rules we'll talk a little about the posting format of the RP. The one thing in the world I hate most is when I join an RP, it' interesting, and when I leave for the night or to go to work or for however long I come back to find 8 pages worth of posts and a plot so entangled that there's no hope of me jumping back in. We will therefore be observing a little known protocol known as post order. At the end of this blurb I will put up a list. This list will contain all the names of people who wish to play and have submitted profiles. This list, from top to botom, will be the order in wich you will post. For example, if the list looks like this: Dash, Jason, and Super fly, then Jason will post after Dash and only after Dash, Super Fly will post after Jason and only after Jason, and Dash will post after Superfly and only after superfly. The list will not change (unless someone joins or leaves) and if it is your turn to post and you have nothing to say (writer's block, afk, or your charachter simply isn't doing anything) just post something like ((pass)). If, for any reason, you wish to leave the RP you have to let us know. If you just leave the person behind you in line will wait forever. Just PM me and let me know that your leaving and I'll take you out of the post order. This is by nature a slow, long ther RP but try to put up at least a post a day and let us know if your going on vacation or anything like that. If you are playing multiple charachters you will appear multiple times in the post order, once as each charachter. Your name in the post order will follow this format: Username (Charachter name)

Charachter Name: Henry 'Hank' Harrison

Role: "The Muscle"

Qualities: Strong, friendly, good natured, loyal, Hank is a real boyscout type of guy. Raised on a little farm in Oklahoma he grew up opperating steam powered tractors and herding cattle, and as such he has a simple, easy going manner. Altho he isn't the brightest crayon in the box he doesn't get flustered easily in intense situations. He is slow to anger and quick with a smile altho some find his lack of refinement tedious and his friendly manner over bearing.

Appearance: Hank is a tall, broad shouldered, dark haired giant of about 23. He has friendly brown eyes and a strong chin and usually dresses in simple trousers, shirt and waistcoat. His most interesting feature is his left forearm and hand, wich at first looks appears to be encased in some sort of metal gauntlet wich apon closer inspection reveals it's self to be a clockwork prostetic. Altho not dexterous it augments his already incredible strength and toughness with the inexorable power of pneumatics and springs. He doesn't talk about how he got it.

Skills: Not terribly gifted in the fields of mathematics, logistics or mechanics, Hank is a natural athlete. He can run, jump, swim, wrestle a gorilla to a stand still and is fairly accurate with a bolt action, altho just as fairly awful with a short gun.

Reason for being relevant to the RP: He recieved a cryptic letter from a friend of one of his uncles containing a first class airship ticket to the swiss alps and asking him to come to the manson of a Mr. Eitbert, who (unbeknownst to Hank) has reasons of his own to want Dr. Montressor's Flying Fortress brought down.

(I'm gonna join though I am wondering,can any characters have well abilities like shooting fire or ice or able to control steam and shape it into things?)
