I got my ears pierced for the first time 6 weeks ago this Thursday. But last week they started to get oozy, and I've been cleaning and keeping a good eye on them since then and it was all good. But last evening we were going to remove the stupid little things and they were oozy again.
I've used Hydrogen Prooxide(can't spell...), and Neosporin.
But I'm still very concerned. Help?

I don't think a Dr is necessary unless they are red, inflamed, and painful (or itchy). Then they may be infected. Just make sure that you keep it clean and use a q-tip to apply the cleaner so that you dont transmit the bacteria from your hands to the open area. By the way reddness isn't always a sign of infection. You maybe are having a reaction to the metal content of the earrings as some costume jewelry earrings have nickel in the metal content. Take them out, clean them well with rubbing alcohol, and apply antibiotic ointment. Do not go without earrings, because your ear holes will grow up since you have not had them pierced very long. You can probably pick up some fairly inexpensive 14k hoop earrings at Walmart to wear, and they will help with the healing. You may have to wear 10k or 14k gold or sterling silver earrings. I hope this helps.. if not then i don't know what else. ;[

Thank you.
They aren't red, inflamed, or hurting too much.
Well, everyone I've talked to in RL says that its from my only cleaning them once a day..if I'm lucky. So when I do clean them around 3-4 times a day, they are fine.
I think its from lack of cleaning. I have no allergies says my Dr. but he's a nutcase. That makes sense though, my mom is allergic to some metal, so it might be hereditary.
Also, I haven't taken my earrings out yet, we tried last night, but I couldn't do it, it was too hard to get out.
Than you soo much for the suggestions.

Remember, don't clean them too much.
If you clean them TOO much you can get an infection. I've never seen a heart that I couldn't break.

Mine did the same thing yours did when they were healing. I second the metal allergy; some people are very sensitive to ANY nickel at all. Anything less than 28k gold sets my ears off, and the 'hypoallergenic' earrings are bad too. So I've taken to wearing high quality gold, surgical steel, or titanium jewelry.

&PlastikStars: That is true. I'm afraid I'm either not cleaning them enough, or too much. I just can't win. But thats always something to remember. <33
&Negative Polarity: Ah, thats true. But they don't get like this often at all, so I really don't think its an allergy. My mom can't wear earrings because her's get all nasty too, but her's showed up right away; so I'm a bit skeptical about it. I believe that its from lack of cleaning right now, or getting something in them I shouldn't.
Currently everythings fine. But I'm still on the nervous side. But thanks to all your suggestions. They honestly helped alot.

Hydrogen Peroxide cleans by killing pretty much everything in its path, including the cells that are working to heal your piercings. Try switching to a fragrance-free antibacterial soap instead - that might help.

Narceu is right. You don't want to use hydrogen peroxide. It's ideal to use saline and make sure you aren't rotating your piercings.

Yeah, I would normally agree that it would have onset really fast, but it didn't with my ears; it took about as long as you've had yours done for them to start reacting, for some reason. Of course, I had no idea it was that until almost a year later when I figured out I was allergic to my belt buckle... @_@systematic_individual Narceu is right. You don't want to use hydrogen peroxide. It's ideal to use saline and make sure you aren't rotating your piercings. I thought you WERE supposed to rotate them? Just not too much, of course, and gently.
And on the subject of saline, sea salt is great for healing piercings. :3 It's some good stuff.

&everyonee:
I agree, my mom said the same thing, but she said not to use it everytime. Mabey once and a while if the infection doesn't go down. But I've been like...alergy tested and everything, nothing came up. But I'll probably be more careful about that.
And I don't twirl them lots, just enough so they don't stick. But I've been trying to use nicer chemicals on my ears, and so far everythings great.
Again, thanks gals <3

Does it hurt to get your ears pierced? Because I was thinking of getting them pierced, but I keep thinking it's going to hurt, then I get to scared. I think I might have a fear of pain.

I've never had that problem. My sister usually just uses the stuff they gave her. D;
