I truly think that he was one of the greatest authors of his time.

His stories are smart and layered with meaning, told in a crisp voice that's not at all difficult to understand. His dialog is perfect down to the very last "marvelous!"

Personally, my favorite by him is Franny and Zooey because it was told with such humanity and realism that it was hard not to relate to the characters and what they were going though.

But, that's just my humble opinion.
