Okay,
I'm not sure how many people are aware of this.
But Avril Lavigne currently being sued.
"Why?" You ask?
Her newest his song,
"Girlfriend"
Is said to be nothing more then
A copy of the Rubinoos Song.
"I wanna be your Boyfriend"
Oh! And to add to this little Sue fest,
The Rolling Stones are Sueing whoever wins.
For their song.
"Get off of my Cloud"
All this over songs...

I wanna know what you think.

Whoever came out with their song first, between Rubinoos and Lavigne, is going to win, hands-down. It's basically the same chorus, with "girlfriend" instead of "boyfriend".
As for the Rolling Stones? It's a little bit of a stretch, but I can see where they're coming from. Chances are they'll win just 'cause they're so huge, when it might just be a coincidence. Like no one else thought to put "hey, hey, you, you, [insert rest of chorus here]" in their song?
I first heard about this whole deal on the radio about a week ago. Apparently Avril has a friend (some artist who I can't remember at the moment) who did a lot of her song writing for her, and Avril took all the credit for it. So yeah, the friend isn't all too pleased with her, either.
It should be interesting to see how this all unfolds. Personally I've been waiting for something to take Avril out of the spotlight.

Rubinoos came out first.
They're from the 70s afterall.
I don't know though.
Personally, I don't like Avril Lavigne.
She got so fake after her first album.
And I stopped caring about her.
At the same time, I think the jury..
is going to be a bunch of people
that have NEVER listened to music in their lives.
So there won't be to much of a bias in that case.
Judges are fairly careful.

I could never get into her - I dislike the female singing voice (with the rare exception). To me, she's always come off as "fake"; it really did look like she did it all for attention. An old friend of mine had a cousin who went to high school with her, and apparently she was nothing like the "skater chick" she liked to portray.
That aside? I am curious as to whether or not the Rolling Stones even have a case. Personally, I don't believe they do.

I would like to see Avril receive a true-blue legal smackdown. Mainly as that is basically the same song, and plagiarism is wrong*. I don't know about the Rolling Stones as far as this goes-- I see where they're coming from, but it could be a coincidence.
I would also like to see Avril receive a smack upside the head, but as that is not going to happen, I'll settle for hurting her money and her reputation as an artist.
*Unless it's Laibach, in which case it isn't plagiarism, it's politics. Mike is a timid insecure girl.
