美 優 咲 Miyusaki

The female frowned lightly on the inside. On the inside, because she could not permit her companion to know of her unrest. She did not like this. The situation she and her siblings were now in. The slobbering males -some admittedly better than others- that their step-brother, the land's new lord, sent her where unbearable. Miyusaki supposed that she should feel honored to be the most favored of the courtesans in her lord's palace, but it was difficult to feel such honor when she had lived the life of lord's daughter when their father had been alive.

Their father. So much had changed in the years since his death. Miyusaki thanked the gods that her mother had not survived their aged father's demise to see how their daughters had to use the courtesan training she had secured for them to provide for themselves. Or rather how Miyusaki, the eldest, used hers to support them both. Lucky or not, her baby sister had secured the interest of their lord and half-brother and though the sweet and naively innocent beauty would sometimes dance for the court she had thankfully never known a man's touch.

In the arms of yet another as she saw to his whims, Miyusaki swore to keep it that way.

清 謙 智 Kiyokenchi

A young man kneeled at a table in the palace temple, yellow sleeve held back from the page as he copied the document before him. His quick mind however was not on the page, but on his family. His sisters. It usually was, whenever he had even a moment of his own. Kiyokenchi sighed softly, finishing another character on the new scroll. He wished there was more he could do for them. It had been wise of their parents to place him in the temple. Their father's eldest son would not have taken well to a half brother as competition for his position. Not that Kiyokenchi wanted such power or the stress that went with it. Except when it came to helping his sisters; he would be tempted to try for such a position if it meant securing their futures favorably.

But the young priest could do little for them but pray and share what meager earnings he was allowed to earn for their well being and care. Though it was within his rights as lord it angered the mild-mannered youth that their step brother had removed his sisters from their half sisters and required of them payment to remain in the palace. As if we have anywhere else to go. He knew what would become of them with such an ultimatum. It is because of him my sister has had to sell herself to the highest bidder of the lords that come to call, or take those our lord brother sends with one of his 'special prices'...

'Safe' in the temple, Kiyokenchi knew of the goings on of the palace whether his proud elder sister told him of them or not. He made it his business to know. A kind word here and a scullery girl told him of this, or a well made bandage there and a stable hand told him that. What little cash he earned was precious to the well being of his sisters so he bartered in anything else he could.

Sighing, the young man set the finished page aside to dry. I suppose we should be thankful our lord-brother thinks us kin enough not to want to have us seen in rags. We should thank the gods for such a blessing. But it was hard. Very hard.

愛 真 頼 Aimayori

A small lithe form half glided, half danced into the glass covered grotto that served as a bathing area. Long dark hair hung luxuriantly down her back nearly to the ground contrasting against the light colors of her garments and heightening her innocent beauty. Blue eyes, brighter than those of her elder siblings, smiled and laughed at the sight of the water. Aimayori loved nothing more than water, save her siblings.

With a light and carefree laugh the lady let her clothes drop to her feet. She stepped out of them and her palace slippers with nymph-like grace and elegance, leaving the beautiful fabric lie safely away from the waters edge as she slipped like some spirit creature of the wild towards the stone encased water of the pool.

It was lovely setting, made to look like something directly out of nature. Or perhaps it was natural, and a previous lord simply had the spring enclosed. The slip of a girl neither knew nor really thought about it as she entered the water, immersing herself above her head. Her warm laughter floated through the room as she surfaced, itself a form of light and warmth that charmed and stirred anyone who heard it.

Only one heard it today. A man with dark eyes shining with the light of one enthralled too much by a thing he dared not touch nor dared share. He watched as the girl's dark hair spun out around her on the surface of the water like a living thing. Hearing his footfalls the girl looked up and smiled, her hair falling around her perfect bare body and clinging to it like a lover as she rose to offer a fitting bow of greeting. "Good day, my lord brother."

The man hid his expression from the girl, coming to sit on a stone not far from the pool to watch her. "Good day, Aimayori. Please. Do not let my presence keep you from your pleasure."

She flashed him a smile of pure joy and thankfulness, giving another polite bow before taking his words to heart and reentering the water to play as a nymph or water-sprite within its clear coolness.. "As my lord brother requests."

User Image The air was crisp, almost cool even as it was sharp and stinging as a thoughtfully quiet lone figure made his way from the temple. It was not far from the palace of his half brother where his sisters dwelt within. Perhaps a half hour on foot, even for the ladies should they be permitted to visit.

But he did not head to the palace today though his heart heavy for them always longed to be there. No. Today he was on an errand of the temple, heading towards another temple in the lands of a neighboring lord.

It was a long trek, but other than parting from his sisters Kiyokenchi did not mind it. There was such beauty out here, beauty that the walls of the temple could not emulate no matter how hard the artisans tried nor how exceptional their skills. The gods, after all, where far superior to the mere mortals beneath them.

Halfway through the day slate blue eyes looked ahead at the sound of water and the male smiled, shifting his pack and casually pushing pale aqua tinged black hair away from his face. If he was not mistaken, the stream ahead lead into the other lord's lands. He was nearly there. And perhaps he could stop near the river for his lunch.

Enjoying the beautiful scenery was not left to Kiyokenchi that day and as he approached the river, he could soon notice the figure out a beautiful tri-tailed vixen. Her back was to him and her kimono was slipped off her shoulders. Three tails waved about her rhymically as she hummed quietly to herself. She rested atop a rock that had her far enough to be out of the water, but close enough to dip in her dainty feet.

The cold ripples sent shivers up her spine and the fox couldn't help but emit a girlish giggle. Admiration shone in her eyes as she watched the beautiful scenery around her. The summer was slowly coming to and end and soon, her favorite season would engulf her. As she watched the leaves slowly change colors over the past weeks, she found herself more pleased. More beautiful than the falling cherry blossoms were the colored leaves that would soon fall and scatter across the ground beautifully.

Hearing the sound of nearing footsteps, the woman ceased her humming and quickly looked back. Her beautiful red-colored curls fell onto her shoulders and two nimble hands were quick to raise her kimono's placement. As a woman of such low status, she was expected to present herself more properly. It would be a shame to appear so disheveled to company!

It was the humming that first caught his attention, lost in his own thoughts and directions. Softly Kiyokenchi turned his gaze to the source of the tune. A gentle smile touched his face at the sight of the girl, for her happiness and the way her feet touched the water, the way her kimono slipped, it reminded him of his dear baby sister. The colorings were completely the opposite -warms to Aimayori's cools- and as she pulled her sleeve back into place, the young priest smiled that this girl certainly remembered more modesty than his naive & trusting sister.

He waited until the girl's kimono was back in place and adjusted as much as it seemed she would be doing. "Good day, Maiden. May the gods smile upon you."
