Slowly, but surely, the darkness cleared from the sky, lighter clouds struggling -and succeeding- through the barrier of dark rain-clouds. A white head poked from her den, black ears twitching as they radared around the wet Pridelands. The rain had been unsuspected, yet welcomed in the dead of the blistering summer, the golden ground spotted with newly made puddle. Smiling softly to herself, Amaterasu pulled herself from her den, shaking her lightly colored pelt as she started out, ivory tail swishing contently behind her. Despite the large rainstorm which had happened just previously, she was thirsty, her destination towards the nearby small watering-hole.

All visual signs of her first pregnancy were gone, and once again the maned wolf was the lithe and skinny femme she once was, plus or minus a few pounds, plus a few pups, actually. The calls of the birds of the savannas reached her ears, and looking up, the damp and dreary sky lit up at the streaks of color suddenly pulsed across it. She stopped to watch it, ears pricked forwards at the new rainbow. It was a good omen, she was sure.

There had never been a time Ohahira honestly had no idea what to do with herself. She'd take anything over the aimless wandering she'd been submitted to. What had happened to the days as a cub with her parents and five sisters?

Yes, things certainly did differ with time. She, herself, had grown. She walked as tall as her mother, perhaps more so. Hunted on her own now, even if it was small or old game.

Some things do change, but some never do.

"Ah! A display of color from the tears of the sky! Do you feel joy now, sky? Why is it you cried before? The woes of this world are becoming to much for nature itself!" the lioness babbled, gazing up at the display of colors.

Tentative ears flicked as some account of a voice reached her ears, wrenching herself away from the enthralling beauty of the skies to look around. With the area so wet and the air humid as it was from the rain, it was nearly impossible to scent where who, or what for that matter, made the sound actually was. It could be a lion, she was near to the famous Pride Rock, but Ama didn't get many of those out here. Whatever it was, it couldn't be that dangerous, unless of course it was a hyena...

Now slightly wary of whatever was out there, the wolf started once more on her short trek to the watering-hole, amusing herself momentarily as she hopped from puddle to puddle, enjoying the watering splashing across her legs.

Hyena? Ohahira knew nothing of them. There had been a story her mother had told her once, but as much as she liked telling tales, when it came down to listening she lacked a lot of skill.

In the land of the Unity Walkers, and in the jungle, where she had dwelled most of her life, there were no 'hyena' for her to come across. Nor were there, to her knowledge, any of... of...

What WAS that thing?

Her brown eyes, shared by both parents and all five siblings, stared questioningly at the thing bounding from puddle to puddle in front of her.

It definately wasn't a lion...

The prospect of going for a drink at the watering-hole had now been put on the back-burner, the femme now amusing herself as a pup would by splashing around. Such simple pleasures, wonderful for the spirit. Turning to see if there were any more that she'd missed, the maned wolf spotted something irregular out of the corner of her eye. Something black and white.

Immediately both ears went up as Ammy turned her head towards the rogue lioness. Such an odd pelt... the femme mused to herself, her tail swishing softly behind her. It took several minutes of thoroughly inspecting the big cat before realizing that she'd been rudely staring. So, she called out a greeting, giving her tail a friendly wag for good measure. "Hello!"

Ohahira very much adored her coat, and that of her sisters. That is, once she was old enough to realize the amusement of them. She had the pattern of her father, her mother's colors. Her oldest sister was the opposite. Ones like Swa were mixed.

They were a beautiful family, appearence-wise. If only in the other ways...

She could dwell on that later, she decided. "Hello! What are you? --doing! What are you doing?"

Amaterasu smiled a bit as the lioness replied back, for a moment though, she seemed oddly disjointed with her words. Her own coat she didn't dwell much upon, but was glad that it contributed to the handsome pelts of both her sons.

The maned wolf blushed a bit, stepping out of one of the puddles she had been romping around in. "Just...jumping around in puddles!" she called back with a laugh, once realizing how silly she had sounded. Of course really there was no other way to put it than that.

Ohahira observed this. Observed more. Then, a little more.

No, she wasn't getting it. That was only going to get her soaked, and how unpleasent that was! Maybe whatever this thing was, the species of them liked water? She didn't.

"I'm Ohahira," the lioness offered. "Do you live here?

It seemed obvious that cats wouldn't like water, wolves on the other hand, especially Ammy herself, enjoyed a refreshing dip every once in a while. She smiled towards the black and white lioness, her tail wagging behind her. She hadn't had company in a while, so this was good. At least this one was being friendly, or seemed to be.

"Ohahira, what a pretty name. I'm Amaterasu, Ammy, is you please." the femme replied easily, feeling no harm would come from this visit with a lion. "Yes, I do. My den isn't far from here. And I assume you live here as well, with this pride?" Ama inquired, with a gesture towards the large Pride Rock, which was easily the most recognizable landmark in the whole territory.

"No, not really," she answered. Her home would always be the Unity Walkers, no matter what. She'd assumed this was some pride owned territory with as many lions as there were. They didn't even notice an outsider walking around. How they didn't run out of resources, Ohahira didn't know.

"Ammy, alright." She smiled. "Do the lions here hassle you any?"

"Oh, so traveling then?" Ammy inquired with a c**k of her head, looking at the lioness. Strange to be in such good spirits after being cramped in a dark hole for days, but none-the-less, she was.

"The lions? Oh, not usually. In fact, sometimes I barely see them at all. Even the patrolmen don't come this far..." The maned wolf nodded softly, settling down on her haunches, tail curling against her leg. "Besides, I can handle myself." She gave an off-handed gesture towards the scar on his right shoulder that showed easily against her snow-white pelt.
