Indeed they can, and oftentimes they'll keep you from doing s**t you wanna do.
It's some thing about Gen-X parents not wanting their children to enjoy the same liberties they had, living vicariously through their kids so they "don't make the same mistakes"
It's a bunch of bullshit. Which is why I'm happy that I'm in the care of two former hippies. They're a lot more laid back, it seems.
Let me guess, your parents are in their early forties, right?
Like, I mean, I've got one fashion restriction on me, and that's no body modifications (tattoo, piercing) but that's my grandfather's rule. My grandma actually WANTS me to be able to get them.
... Maybe for my 17th birthday.

That means they fit my description even better.
They're definitely gen-X parents.

My mum's 54 and my dad's 41. They let me get any piercings. The only 'problem' I've had is my mum won't pay for my tounge piercing because she despises them. Im not allowed tattoos till Im 18 but I couldn't anyway because the guy who'd do it knows how old I am, I have a pic of him at my 3rd birthday party.
I'm allowed any hair colour and dress how I want.
My mum's a bit amazing : D

Mi Padre's a control freak, but he doesn't give a s**t as to what I wear as long as I don't look like a whore. My mother's a tad more conservative, but she also gives me a lot more freedom than he does. Not to mention she's like a best friend to me. Strange how that is.
