I just got to 70 the other night ...whee!!!!
Ive been an arms/fury build for pvp purposes ever since lvl 60. (before that i was strictly fury) I dont have any tanking gear, and I only have battlegear stuffs. Of course, that makes me less likely to get into any dungeons. I put on my 1h sword/shield and go to tank for an instance, and everything can be going fine, and someone will have the audacity to ask "What spec are you?"
Of course, i'll respond with arms/fury spec. Then everyone pretty much gives me the evil stare and says "Well, I dont think we're going to get much further. Without a protection warrior, i dont think that we'll get past the first boss." Of course, this person was snobby from the beginning >_< I mean, i was running at lvl 69 in mana tombs with a bunch of lvl 65's. I think i could hold aggro ^^; Nobody ever lost more than 25% health...because as soon as i saw that i lost aggro i'd grab that person off them, no matter where i was or what i was doing.
Of course, everyone disbanded as soon as I stated I was arms/fury spec.
I was wondering, if i can hold aggro, and keep NOBODY from getting badly wounded as a fury/arms warrior, why does everyone HAVE to have a protection warrior at lvl 70?

Just as every Paladin, Druid, Priest, Shaman and Warrior does, you'll get pulled into heal/tank spec EVENTUALLY.
But seriously, most can tank fine... Others, give you a bad repuation.

For every player that can tank without a traditional tanking spec, there are a dozen that can't. Just assure your group that tanking nonheroic five mans does not require a full protection warrior.
I think I've tanked every TBC five man on a resto druid with un-enchanted/un-socketed crappy feral gear. The level 60 AV exalted ring is still in my druid's set.

Prot tanks allow your DPSers to be retards and not control their aggro. You don't need to be Protection for anything before 25mans.
I've Maintanked every 5man, Heroic, and Karazhan as Arms. It's not that hard, people just don't like the concept of waiting a few seconds to generate threat.
My advice, stay whatever spec you like. When they ask what spec you are, just say protection. I guarantee 9/10 pugs won't be able to tell the difference.
