I haven't found anything like this here, so thought I'd start a thread myself!

What books and resources have you used in your exploration of your dreams? Post any information and links here.

One of the BEST books I have found, and I have read many, has been "Concious Dreaming" by Robert Moss. He uses his own dreams as well as the dreams of many others as a basis for his research. I consider it a MUST for anyone wanting to learn more about themselves through their dreams!!

my intuition is generally best, but I get most of my information from Dream Moods. I also have an Everything Dreams book that is fairly good. I'm not a fan of the books in general (neither the Dummies and Idiot's guides either), but I got it for nearly 3/4 of the suggested retail price, so I couldn't argue expanding my library.

[good idea by the way, I was actually thinking of starting a sticky in each subforum to list resources for that particular subject...so this one will be the first!!]

[edit: somehow I managed to delete the poll...if you'd like, please put it back up...more gold for voting a second time I guess sweatdrop sorry!!!]

I use to have a 1001 Dream Interpretation Dictionary
But I found it annoying and unreliable as it didn't match what intuition said, so it has long since vanished.

I like dream moods as well smile

That's what I like so much about "Concious Dreaming"... he says no book, site or other person can understand ou dreams better than we can, and aren't qualified to tell us what they mean! We all have the ability to understand our dreams, much better than what someone else can tell us. This book, and the exercises and suggestions within, are very helpful!

I agree, your intuition is the best guide!

I can NEVER argue with expanding the library!

I agree with that
2 people can have a similar dream about traveling down a road. For one it may indicate they are about to go on a trip, or do some traveling. For the other it might indicate where they are on their lifes path. It is all about personal perceptions and experiences.

That is why I make sure to tell people to keep in mind that my interpretations are LOOSE interpretations, meaning that I may say that a symbol may mean one thing, when to them it means something else.

Take water for example. When a person thinks of water, they may think of either a calm refreshing drink of water, or a raging stormy ocean of water, and everything in between. They may be calmed by water, or may be frightened by water.

It depends on our own interpretation and our personal experiences. That is part of the reason personal intuition is the best.

Water actually represents our emotions and feelings about situations. But that can change too depending on our reaction about being around the water in dreams too. An example would be dreaming about a calm lake, Its supposed to represent being at peace or rest with current situations. But if the person dreaming finds themselves in the water drowning, or on a boat with no means to get to shore, it gives off a totally different atmosphere. The same goes for riding on rapids you can either be enjoying the ride, or unable to maintain control.

^ That makes sense that certain elements could represent certain connections, like you said water does between emotions and situations. And of course the interpretation depends on the individual and their own circumstances and history.

Thanks for pointing that out - I had never considered that the elements represent certain connections in our dreams!
