Swordmaster Dragon
I guess it falls into the realms of Dr. Seuss, Gulliver's Travels, Alice in Wonderland, and the Animaniacs in that respect. Without the commentary, they are geared towards kids. With the commentary, they can be biting satires of the contemporary times.
Maybe the author wished to explained things in a way that anyone can understand. Maybe that's why it's a simple story.
Has anyone read Sphereland? A different author wrote it as a sequel to Flatland. It is told from the point of view of the grandson of the square in Flatland. Many many things bug me about it but in general, it isn't so bad. Not as good as the previous one, but still continues a couple of concepts that were never addressed.
