I'd say it depends on how much you plan on buying. From the Otakon website:
Quote:

"How much money should I bring?

How much do you plan on spending? Plan on spending at least $20 a day on food and drink, plus your portion of travel and hotel costs. Make sure you have enough money to get home!"

So at least 50$ ish for food, and then more if you want to buy things in the dealers room. 3nodding

I'm bringing over $200, but that's mainly because of rediculously priced hotels.

well i live here so i dont need to get a hotel.... so should i just bring all of my money? its just about....$342 for all three days....

Unless you go crazy in the dealers room, that should be enough. If you're sleeping at home, I'd just eat a big breakfast and dinner to take care of food. Then all your expenses would be from merchandise. Mangas are gonna cost you ~$5 each and dvds are usually rediculously priced. You can usually snag tshirts on Sunday for $10-15. Figuring all that... $300 should be enough to stock up for a year.

Look, if you live close enough to the point where you don't need a hotel this is what I would do.

Pack your food.
Eahc a huge breakfast, and then some sort of later afternoon meal. You will save SOOOO much money from not eating out.

To the point where i've only needed like 30-40 dollars for the entire weekend because of how much I'm saving from just eating meals at home / bringing chips or a sandwhich.

For the dealers room, bring maybe 100-200, it just depends on how much you really want to spend. It's easy to spend money in there, so be careful XD

Well, excluding hotel fees, I'm also taking my sister with me. If you're having to pay gas, remember that the national average is around $3.00 a gallon, so depending on where you're coming from is how much you may want to bring.

Depending on where you park also, you may have to pay for parking (most places in Baltimore you may have to), so find out fees before you leave and set some money aside for that.

As for food and buying things, we're not eating at the convention and I don't think we'll be buying anything in the dealers' room (though I may buy from the artist alley). So we'll be bringing about $40 for food and about $20 to just carry around.

But that's us, we've been known to have great will power. whee

I'll be paying $20ish for parking for the weekend, and then buying some Otakon merch - a year pin, a t-shirt, and some of the new stuff they're gonna have this year - my cat broke my Hiroko shotglass (I still have the Hiroshi one xd ), so I want another one of those, too, if they've still got any. I should get away with spending less than $60 at the merch table, at any rate.

Oh, and Deathly Hallows at the B&N release party on Saturday night, that's another $20ish.

My hotel room's free and I'm gonna bring food with me since there's nothing kosher in downtown Baltimore that I know of.. So I should be set with a hundred bucks.

EDIT: Forgot gas for my car, so that's another $30 or so round-trip from NYC. x_X Thank god for Ez-Pass so I don't have to remember cash for tolls.
