Strange. My local newspaper says that there is not enough evidence to prove that video games are addictive. Certainly noone can claim that Video game addiction is harmful.

I saw somthin' like this on my local news. It reminds me of an add i saw in nintendo power saying that the goverment thinks video games are more dangerous then drugs or guns in teens. *beep*ing freakazoids!

I like how people have both proven and disproven that it's possible to be addicted to games. Yes, it is possible. Just like it's possible to get addicted to ANYTHING that gives people pleasure. I just wish video games would stop being targeted so negatively. I almost feel like an outcast in our government for playing them. Not that I have much of a problem with that, but still.

*sigh* This sort of thing really irks me. People can do research on all sorts of addictions and blame this and that, but it's not the things people get addicted TO that is the problem, it's the personality that bends towards addiction in the first place. Some people just find a thing they are interested in and overindulge and it's this tendency towards overindulgence that is what should really be treated, in my opinion. I'm of the mind to believe that should these people who are addicted to video games were to be "cured" they'd just go out and find something new and overindulge in that. It's not games (in this instance) that is the problem, it's the inability of the "addicted" to better manage their time and attention.
