Well I had my first Chao Reincarnation last night. I was just minding my own business when I suddenly noted one of my chao going into a cocoon. I thought about my chao for a minute and remembered that all the chao had evloved and rushed over to find the new egg!
So now it is back at level 1 with okay stats. Hurrah for chao coming back after they die.

And 4 more reincarnated today. All my super chao have become sucky. But at least I get to raise them again I suppose that is a plus.

That's true. And I have a copy of him on another file as backup so if I desperately need to race someone then I can always pull out that chao. Hurrah for glitches.
