This has been troubleing me for a long time now. should they allow cosplayers to carry full-steel weapons in the con?
as many of you know, most anime cons don't allow weapons unless they are wooden or foam training weapons. But what If you get a Sheath Lock for your sword? Then it would be impossable to remove your sword from the sheath. problem solved. or maybe they won't let you carry it for some legal reason. Get a "Concealed Weapons License" that includes swords. then they have proof that you know how to use it properly (you usually need to also own a sheath lock to get the lciense)
what are your thoughts?

I believe they should be allowed, only with that condition that they're tucked away safely. Also, they shouldnt really be allowed to "play" with them with other weapons unless they're also of metal and steel.
Because i used to have a foam scythe, and someone with a metal keyblade hit it playfully, and it snapped in half. gonk

I don't think they should allow metal wepons! Crazy things will happen. eek xp
I agree with Oneris, if your going to have a metal weapon...it needs to not be played with.
I think it's odd though that they alow metal Keyblades... lol I guess those aren't dangerous...but then you could really beat the crap out of someone with that..

It would be the most painfull experiance a person could have, but it is still possable. I think that the only metal weapons that should be allowed at a con are ones with sheathes and locks.

I just don't think it's a good idea to alwow metal weapons anywhere....let alone a place full of young people, who some might be enticed to start a fight for something as simple as someone checking out their girl or smomething.
What do you mean Xander? Sheaths and locks?

nevermind I saw the locks once, but they must have been custom.
anyway, they should allow swords with sheathes, but fine people if they pull the sword out more than 2 inches (that should be enough for a pose)

Well in the anime cons i've been to, metal swords, even wooden swords with sheaths are NOT allowed out of their sheath, and are even locked down. If you yourself do not have a lock for it, they'll twisty tie it down, which is hard to take off. >>
The metal keyblade was more like hollow metal tubes welded together really nicely, than like heavy full metal. I dont know how this person got past it, but somehow he did.

actually, the keyblade could have been made as a custom one by an company. Swords Online makes a Buster Sword made out of aircraft alluminum, which makes it strong but light enough to swing like Cloud does.

yup. thats when you HAVE to have a sheath or a lock, unless it is dull. becuase i know they sell weapons at the cons, and they're sharp and stuff. but if its a flat edge sword, then it is allowed.

I don't think they should be allowed. It would just be way more trouble than it's worth. People could get hurt if they're not careful, and no offence, but when you're dealing with a bunch of over-excited teenagers, that is very possible. Even saying have regulations like locks don't nessisarily make i safe. There would have to be staff to check everyone, and if even one person got by unchecked then you could be looking at a potential problem. I think it's better to just play it safe.

I think steel would be to dangerous... But as long as you don't hurt anybody then yeah it could be acceptable... O_o;;

well if it's teenagers, then no--steel weapons shouldnt be allowed. But like mature adults who cosplay for like accuracy and stuff, then its ok.

Personally, that topic for me has PLENTY of bad things..If people weren't so immature, I would say yes, give them their steel and metal weapons! I am indeed guilty of owning a very nicely sharpened steel katana...but if I had a choice, I probably would not bring it to a con and such (I do have training and everything, but there's just too much of a risk.)...And I've never heard of sheath locks, but even so, if you're the owner of the weapon, who knows. You could be a crazy serial killer. People just don't know, especially people at cons. neutral

you could beat someone to death with a fun noodle... but yes... immature people lead to stupid actions... I am kinda neutral on this issue... because I happen to like steel weapons.. and will be buying one

There should definitely be a weight / size / sharpness restriction. For example: a Fusion sword made of solid steel should not be allowed, a small, aluminum, sharp katana should not be allowed, but an aluminum katana without an edge and under a few kilograms could be allowed.
I'm not so sure on the reliability of sheath locks... so I'd just say "don't bring anything that could slice someone's head off, that you'll have trouble carrying with you, or that you could accidently hurt someone with."
