A wonderful first question. In AAmegamisama the anime and the manga many Goddesses have Angels. When a Goddess is powerful enough and has the proper training she may choose to swollow an angels egg. Given time an angel will be born from the small of her back. The angel often reflects a portion of the goddesses personlity in her very form, and always shares her element. For example Peorth who calls herself peorth of the roses has an angel who is clothed by a Thorned rose stem and is named Le Rose Magnifique 
Urd's Angel is a bit of a spoiler for Hand in hand, but as it came out over a year ago and is late int he series, likly either youve read it, never will, or wont remeber by the time you do so I can talk about her. Her angel is half black half white
Because of Urd's mixed Demon angel blood.
Unfortuantly as the series was writyten and drawn by a male.. Angles wear shockingly little. He does handle it in a tastefull way, but it still makes me uncofortable to post too many pictures.... Anyway moving on
A goddess can be too weak to control her angel. Skuld is a good example. To see what happens when an underpowered underaged goddess swallows an angels egg, youll have to read the manga wink
As far as we have seen in the anime and manga Angels NEVER SPEAK. their emotions overlap those of the goddess they are within. Each ange does have its own shimmer of personality however. Blessed Bell seems almost shy, World of elgance is a bit feirce at times, Basically the angels take one aspect of their goddesses personality and expand it for their own.
A goddess and her angel are a bonded team. Both ready to aid and defend the other. Having her angel out too long taxes and tires a Goddess, but the angels can muster more power in a given moment, without prepared spells then a Goddess can. In the movie the Angels battle more then the Goddesses do, because they are stroinger at fast enegery gathering, but if an angel is hurt, so is the goddess.

Sparkle ov Valor - Geri (My own creation....)
