Time Travel is a real possibility: http://www.crystalinks.com/timetravel.html , http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/time-travel-phys/ , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel ; we have 2 travel near the speed of light, which we're not even close 2 now, so, right now, it's a mere possibility. If we harnessed the amazing power of the black hole, that'd be 1, but not the only way 2 way 2 achieve it.

personally I don't think it is possible because I subscribe to the belief that time is not a location. for example you can travel to new york but once a second is gone it will never return. it is not constant as such there is no "time" to travel to

Time is the fourth dimension. It technically should be possible to travel in time, but it will probably will not happen for many hundreds of years, judging by our current rate of development (and it doesn't matter that much because global warming will have increased so much that most, if not all humans will be dead).

The closest thing to time travel we can achieve is to orbit a black hole without being sucked in. THe increased gravity would make two weeks two years, or something similar. YOu couldn't go back, though.
I don;t subscribe to any particular belief. Every one is possible, but we wonlt know until it happens. Every second could turn out to be a different dimensoin. Time could be linier, or repeat. Time could also not exist, just sometihng we try to measure.

thenerdqueen Time is the fourth dimension... Not really, the fourth dimension brings up a new factor, which is time, so it is not only "where" it is also "when" the fourth dimension is really easy to reach: just travel to space, there are alot of phenomenons, stretching and bending time. Also I don't think black holes could be useable as something like "slingshots", it is just too risky and I want to see the starship stable enough to withhold the powers of a black hole.

While we're on the subject of time travel...
YOu technically can't mess something up i you go back in time, since it WOULD HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED!
I never said anytihng about being able to use it as a slingshot, nor about having a ship that coudl withstand it, but if you could orbit a black hole, the gravity woud make oyur time move slower than the rest of everytthing, thus effectively going into the future.

I believe that time travel is not possible, especially to the future because the future has not happened yet. i believe that there is only a here and a now, that once a period of time has gone by, it will never come back. I do however believe that if you travel at the speed of light that you will appear to age slower than the rest of the universe.

It's not going to happen. Ever.
And if it did, it would have screwed so royally with the world that it would explain a lot. But I still don't think it has or ever will happen.
