I really thought religion was about acceptance, and im just curious...are people who do those things, just to passonate, or possers giving religion a bad name? Its always bugged me, but ive yet to find someone who gave me a straight awnser.
hmm.....i dont think ive personally ran into a christian or a zealot who is truly like that. im no the church going type and i dont have time to go to youth groups or anything and most of my friends aren't Christians anyway. the state of California has every type of religion you could imagine so finding Christians that i can just randomly run into and hang out with, isnt so common, at least for me.
i really dont know why people who are so conservative act the way they do for non believers of the christian faith. in fact, your right, at least regarding the christian faith, it teaches very much of accepting others and not being a false whiteness to your neighbor and " to treat others as you would treat yourself". the famous golden rule comes from the bible.
the bible teaches to be fair and just, to show kindness and truth and even to love your enemy, to never hate anyone or to hold grudges.
some Christians do the EXACT opposite.
Heres something i doubt you'll ever hear from a christian again. I find it EXTREMELY ironic and hypocritical and Christians state by going on missions and preaching the bible will save men.
It CAN NOT! I can not stress this strongly enough than what I'm saying now. Man CAN NOT and DOES NOT have the ability to spiritually save man. WE do not choose who will go to heaven and who will go to Hell. that is not OUR power, it is God's. The Lord tells us to preach the bible only to open the first door, and that is to "share" with those who have not yet heard the bible, about Christ our Lord and his teachings.
In other words, our purpose of "spreading the word" is merely to open a door, and the only one that can bring them through that spiritual door is God. The real means of preaching the bible is because we don't know who will be saved and who will be not.
Thats what I find it so pointless to try to "convert" and to "go on a mission" the way Christians to today, cuz I don't need to. That's not my purpose regarding spreading the word. All I need to do is merely teach about God's word and teach about God himself. From there it is the choice of the individual of whether they want to accept it or not, we can't FORCE people to accept what they don't want to believe.
So its so painfully.....just plain stupid for what they're doing today and it just annoys the hell out of me.
I'll give a little example regarding my roommates, and my friend whom has been a priest for a while now. My roomates weren't atheists but pagans. They claimed they had already read the bible but didn't believe in God or what it had to say. And my friend goes on telling me how I should try to "save" them but preaching about God or something. And I'm sitting here thinking "you....FOOL.....my god do you just NOT understand that I CAN'T save them spiritually? I don't have to preach to them because they already read about the bible and if they don't accept it then they DON'T ACCEPT IT!"
I can't force them and he was angry at me for it. Its LUDICROUS!
