See, but this is a thread for people who do have a valid opinion, and who have read more than (lets just say) 5 or 6 of his books, and not just his horror books. Eyes of the Dragon, Black House (part two of Talisman), The Dark Tower series, From a Buick 8, and even, to some extent, Carrie, are not "Horror novels." Though Carrie and From a Buick 8 are Fantasy/Sci-fi with Horror undertones. They call him "The Master of Horror," but that's not all he writes. Hell, The Dead Zone is a Realistic Fantasy/Sci-fi! I didn't seen Horror elements in there at all!
I own over 20 of his books, and have read probably anywhere from 30 to 40 since I was 8. Thats including my mothers collection, and my brothers. Thats Horror, Fantasy, Sci-fi (like Firestarter, which begins with a wonderful chase sequence), and even Supernatural Thriller. They even made a 7 or 8 issue comic book based on back story from one of the Dark Tower books. He's very talented, and very flexible. I hope to be even half as great as I think he is with my own writing.

Anyways, I knew what the books where. I own Desperation, I just haven't gotten to reading it yet - I'm pretty backed up, because I just keep buying more and more books. And 1408 is based on a story from Everythings Eventual. But yeah, I haven't read either one yet. (Though I haven't found a second hand copy of EE yet, I'm still looking. My copy of Desperation is a hardcover which I got for about $20 at a secondhand bookstore downtown that I frequent... I love that place, its even in one of the stories I'm writing, Maroque. My main character works there.)

some of his books pull you in really fast and some like Tommyknockers takes a long time. Also some of what he writes I feel could be left out like in the shinning when wendy talked about laying in bed with seman drying on her legs and sometimes he throws in random stuff about drugs that makes me think what the ******** was that for if he took that out nothing about the plot would change.

I do reallly like his skelleton crew book of short stories and i have the original with the one about the guy sniping people at his college

Personally, I think I own at least a dozen of his books. I've collected a few that I really enjoyed such as his Nightmares and Dreamscapes collection, The Green Mile, Christine, Thinner, The Dark Half, Insomnia, and Needful Things and It, though I had quite a few nightmares while I was reading It. I found The Green Mile to be my favorite, and though the movie made from it was good, it didn't quite do it complete justice. I haven't read the Dark Tower series, but I've heard from many people (not just this thread) that it's good. Yes, I know Thinner and The Dark Half are not officially under his name, but they were written by him under the pen name, and are great examples of his beginning works.
He really is a great writer, and one who's praise, while not mandatory, is an honor. I've seen a few books that have had his opinion on them, and they have turned out to be pretty good also. Not quite his caliber, but still good.

Thanks for starting this thread!
