Okay no joke or anything I have tried it myself. It requires an autofire controller, and it is recommended that you have a party around level 60. Okay Since the battle cursor defaults to "attack" setting the X button to autofire would cause your characters to repeatedly attack. The problem with that is that you would have to be present to engage in more battles, as it requires you to walk around. There is one exception however. The sandy area near the choccobo reanch (i think) has a ginant viper type enemy that chases your characters and engages them in battle. If the creature is killed it simply respawns and chases your party to engage in another battle. If you move your characters to that area and set X to autofire then everytime it engages you in battle your characters will automatically attack. You should kill it in one hit, also very rarely it will land a hit on your party, thus the level recomendation. You can walkaway from the game and do whatever while your characters level up. I left mine overnight for about 8 hours and gained like 16 levels on each character. Mycharacters were all down to lower than 1/4 hp though, so unless you are an extremely high level I wouldn't leave it for more than 8 or 9 hours.

You can program 1 button on the controller to rapidly register by holding it in. Regularly it will only register the command once when you hold the button in. That is annother thing I forgot to mention you need to set something on top of the button, or wrap a rubber band around it if you want to be able to walk away from it. Also the recommended level I put there is 60, I supppose that at lower levels you could do this for shorter extents of time, due to the fact that you have less health.

I love that trick, all though I've never tried it because I actually go to the Midgar Zolom at like Level 20 something with all my limits active, Seal Evil, Cross Slash and whatever Red XIII has at the time. I hit him at the beginning with Seal Evil, and when stop runs out I hit him with Cross Slash, then just pelt him with the best I got and hope for the best. I usually can gain a few levels from doing this, but after the battle it also helps to have alot of tents.

i've never been able to do something like that since i'm poor and couldnt get a rapid fire contoller

I don't think an auto-fire controller is any more expensive than a regualr controller. Also you can still use it as a regular controller.
