Sepoko had told his mother he wanted to go out ahead and see if he could find anyone his own age to play with, but honestly he just wanted to be alone for a while. He needed to clear his head. He found a lot of things had ceased to make sense. He could no longer keep his own thoughts and feelings straight.

As he walked, he wondered at the wide open spaces and rolling grasses, the sparse trees. It was all far, far different from the jungles he had once called home. It terrified him a bit, all this space. He didn't know quite what to do with himself, or where to look or where to go. There were few hiding spaces and scarcely any major landmarks. It was overwhelming, and Sepoko thought that sooner or later, he was going to get himself lost in this great, wide nothingness. The juve just couldn't comprehend how his mother had ever managed to get by in places like this.

Exhausted, confused, and weary, Sepoko sought out a small, tangled tree and lay under it, snuggling up next to it like a child's security blanket, and rested there.

Mufasa Lay quiets on his back looking up to the sky. It was... quite boring lately. Uovu had been busy for the most part, and he didn't know anyone in the actual pride.

It was a shame really. He should probably should have made friends. Not minding that, Mufasa rolled to his side and pushed himself up. A random direction would suit him for now.

That is, until he stopped a gnarled, tangled tree with a figure laying beneath.

It took him a moment, but in a sleepy haze Sepoko eventually sensed the presence of another figure nearby. He tensed up, and upon opening one eye, he did indeed spy the form of another lion. Startled, he cried out and scrambled backward a bit, quite inadvertantly backing himself up hard against the tree, clocking himself in the back of the head. He squeaked and placed his paws behind his head to guard the tender spot, then looked again upon his accidental company.

Why, it was just a young lion like himself. This fact, however, did little to reassure Sepoko. Anxiously, he bit his lip and began fiddling with his tail with his forepaws, wringing it like a towel. One of the things he hated about doing all this traveling was the chance of stumbling upon someone else's territory; his mother didn't seem to care about such things, but Sepoko did. He hated the idea of doing offense to anybody. Wary, he cleared his throat and stammered, "I... I'm real... really sorry... er... is... is this your t-tree? 'Cause... 'cause if it is, I-I'll move! Gladly! I uh... I uh... I was just passing through, is all! I... I'm so sorry." He gulped and waited. Sometimes an apology, he found, no matter how earnest, was not enough to appease others.

Mufasa almost chuckled until her reminding himself that someone that was skitterish... wasn't funny. He stepped a bit closer and sat down. "Oh no, it's not my tree." He commented. He put a paw to his chest as if emphasizing his point. “You don’t have to apologize.”

He frowned a little. Just a little, so it wasn’t all too noticeable. “And you don’t have to leave if you don’t want to."

Sepoko, while still anxious, relaxed a little bit at Mufasa's laughter, which sounded good-natured enough. He held his ground tensely as the other boy sat near him, but loosened up when he spoke. "It's not?" Sepoko questioned. He briefly looked the tree up and down, then looked back to Mufasa. "Um... you sure you don't mind?" But Mufasa told him not to worry, and all but invited him to stay, and Sepoko finally smiled. "Oh... um... thank you."

Then he started with realization. "Oh! Um, I should introduce myself..." He took a moment to hastily bow to his company in greeting. "Ah, my name's Sepoko, it's a pleasure to meet you." He rose slowly and looked to the neutral-toned juve in curiosity. "Might I ask your name?"

“Sepoko… It’s nice to meet you,” he said with a light smile. Being generally happy, he would usually always be smiling. Or, it was just a kind habit that he stuck to since cub-hood. “I’m called Mufasa,” he said leisurely, putting a paw to his chest to almost emphasize his point. He paused for a short moment before commenting. “You’re not from around here, are you?” he asked. It was probably an obvious, no-duh, kinda question. However, he felt the need to comment on it anyways.

He inched a little bit closer. He felt a little, far away. He didn’t know though. He usually hung around adults. Sepoko, unlike all his other friends, was around his age. He felt the need to become friends with the lion before him.

Sepoko returned the smile meekly, feeling a little more at ease now that names had been exchanged... but still not quite certain. After all, he was on unfamiliar turf... the rules could all be different out here. In fact, when Mufasa asked about his not being from around here, Sepoko hung his head as though in shame.

"No, no I'm not," he confessed. Feeling awkward, he rubbed the back of his neck with his paw. "I grew up in the jungle... but I don't really think I'm from anywhere anymore... I just wander around with my mom. She's a ways behind me now... I think she went hunting or something..." He trailed off here, realizing he'd gotten a bit off topic. It was a strange feeling really, not having a home to go back to. A home was like a security blanket, he felt. Something you could depend upon when you were scared or lost. Without a home, Sepoko felt... naked, somehow.

Shaking these thoughts out of his head, Sepoko glanced to Mufasa curiously and questioned, "Are you from around here?" That's about when he noticed that the other boy was suddenly closer. Startled, Sepoko inched back, negating the space that Mufasa had closed. However, seeing that Mufasa was not about to spring, Sepoko decided to hold his ground.

Mufasa chuckled a bit. "With you're mum, huh?" He commented, even though what he said really wasn't a question. "Seems fun though. I'm kind of tied down a little now, with rules and all."

Mufasa gave a small pause in what he was saying. "Ah, umm... I'm not originally from here. I did a bit of traveling before meeting my dad." Ne noted however that he was a bit off topic himself, but that didn't seem to stop him.

"Other than that, Yes, I guess I am from around here," he said with a light chuckle. He didn't mind if he had a permanant home or not, either way.

Mufasa didn't move any closer, due to Sepoko's discomfort.

Sepoko blushed. Was there something odd about traveling with his mother? He glanced away as Mufasa went on and muttered in reply, "Fun, huh? We just started and I'm sick of it already. I'm tired of waking up somewhere different every night. I feel lost..." He sighed. "Sorry... I shouldn't complain," he ammended hastily. He certainly hoped he wasn't being too much of a bother, and he was a little embarassed by how much he'd just admitted to. He wasn't used to being this open... but so far, Mufasa had proved himself to be a pretty dependable fellow.

He looked back at his companion in surprise, though, when he admitted that he used to travel. "Met your dad?" he questioned. "You didn't grow up with your dad?" It seemed an odd idea to Sepoko, who had grown with both parents and only just been seperated from his father a few months ago.

He felt a little guilty about having been so edgy with Mufasa before, and so decided to cautiously shuffle an inch or two closer. It seemed safe now.

"No, if's fine if you complain," He said with a smile. "I supposed I just like traveling 'cause I used to travel all the time," he commented lightly. "You'll get used to it though." He paused for a second, and thought.

"Well, Uovu's not my real dad..." he said. "I never knew my real parents, so he's the only Dad I know." he said. He felt nothing for his decesed parents, so it didn't bother him like it would some others.

He grinned at Sepoko for a second. "Oh... May I ask what you're traveling for?" He questioned with a smile. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to."

Sepoko, finally feeling a bit more relaxed, went slacked a leaned up against the tree they sat beneath. He listened to Mufasa tell how he used to travel and, shuffling his paws in the dirt, commented, "Man... if only we could trade places, huh?" He laughed a bit, then sighed and said, "Yeah... I hope I do get used to it... 'cause I don't think we're gonna stop for a long time."

The idea of Mufasa not having real parents made Sepoko frown a bit, and he drew his ears back against his head. Sepoko, who had grown up so far with a full family, could hardly fathom the idea. But he also couldn't help but be a bit envious. "At least you have a dad..." he muttered, and kicked a rock in his frustration, watching it roll away. "My dad left us. That's why mom decided to travel again. We're not really traveling for anything... mom just likes to wander." He sniffled a bit, then decided to drop the subject entirely. He hated talking about his broken family.

Forcing a smile, the rust-colored juve decided to change the subject. "So... what do you do out here with your dad?"

"Well," Mufasa paused for a second. He hadn't really done anything with Uovu since he got to the Southlands and met Roho. "We haven't done much since I got here. He's been with his mate or patroling I suppose..." Mufasa commented thoughtfully.

"But how about you, your travels have been a bit unpleasent for what I hear." He tilted his head. "You could make them fun you know," the brown and white juv said just as thoughtfully as before.

Sepoko smirked a little, bitterly, and explored the bark of the tree with his paws, studying it's texture, making it familiar, because he was always looking for familiar things. "Haven't done much, huh?" murmured Sepoko as he traced the texture of the tree with a single claw. "Forgive me but... I still think you're awfully lucky. At least you have a father figure, and somewhere to come back to at the end of the day." For the first time the amber-colored boy began to wonder if perhaps he was the only one in this world who valued home so highly. He'd yet to meet someone as distressed at not having a permanent shelter as he. In fact... all the other lions he'd ever met were wanderers at heart.

Maybe there was something wrong with him, he thought.

He looked to Mufasa as he spoke and sighed, then shook his head. "No, I really don't think I can," he replied. "I'm... I'm not like you, I'm afraid. I'm not like my mother, either. I need..." He hesitated a moment, because he honestly wasn't sure exactly what it was that he needed. Finally, he finished, "I need something permanent."

Mufasa supposed that was true, but he viewed it different. More of a 'home is where the heart is' outlook. "That's true, but there is aways a place to return to," Mufasa gave a small frown. "As long as you have someone to return to, it shouldn't matter," but that was how he viewed it.

Mufasa gave a smile. "I might not understand what you mean, but that's your view of it," the white and brown lion said. "I wish you luck in finding a permentant home," Fasa said truthfully.
