Irelia giggled. "Yes! I will be a vampire! I WILL BITE YOU, RAWR!" Irelia yelled the last part out and mimed being godzilla. Irelia was often a little too exhuberant in her make believe and today was no different.
Irelia looked to the door after hearing the crying and nodded at Taki's suggestion.
"We will be shadow soldiers! Lets sneak out now,"
Irelia opened her door quietly, reaching up on her hooves to reach the doorknob as it was placed high to be comfortable for Asher but was too high for a little child.
Irelia peered out and motioned for Taki to go first. She had always noticed that he moved far quieter than she did and wanted to copy what he did.
"Hey Taki," Irelia was whispering very quietly. She hoped he could hear her, "who's that girl over there?"

Asher looked down at Rihanna with a mixture of surprise and pity. She looked on the verge of tears herself, as she pushed the crying child in to the room in front of her. Asher closed the door and sat her on the couch. The girl, Rune, collapsed on the floor and continued to sob.
Asher was staring, and he finally found his voice,
"What's wrong with her? Is she like our children?"
Rihanna shook her head and sighed.
"That's a common misconception. Although it may seem similar, this child was born of the World Tree and she's very important in regards to science. I know you explained that your Dr. Akari created biocomputers and that is how your girl, Irelia was born. Probably just as important though." Rihanna finished weakly, as she realized it sounded as she was talking down to him.
"I'm sorry, thank you for introducing yourself Mr. Quoile. I rather wish I didn't feel the need to intrude but I thought that perhaps I could pick your brains on how to raise a problem child," Rihanna went beet red, "Oh dear. Not that I was implying that either your or My. Quoile's child was a problem... Oh my, I have made a mess of things."
Rune let out a quite wimper and Rihanna gathered her up, and Rune began to make a sobbing mess of her shirt.
"I guess that's what you get for having a child who's a Salix Babylonia."
Rihanna looked at Asher's blank stare.
"oh, I meant a weeping willow."

Taki slipped out the door, sticking close to the wall and slinking almost silently down the hallway. He hated the noise shoes made on the carpet. It was muffled from the helmet, but he could still hear it. He twisted around when he heard Irelia, then peered into the other room towards the girl. "Dunno," he whispered back, tilting his head slightly. "She looks kinna sick. Her skin's a funny color."

"I thought she looked something like a tree," Calder murmured, then offered a small smile towards Rihanna. "I'm used to the more magical sorts, of course, but she quite resembles a nymph, you know. I don't know what to tell you about the crying, though."
He paused, then glanced at Asher briefly, then back towards Rihanna. "I guess I should explain a little... I'm from Faerie, a... retired water diety, I suppose."

Irelia flanced over to the other little girl and her nerve wavered for a bit.
FRESH MEAT
But she continued along behind Taki, until they reached the door.
"open the door! A magical sword is inside!!! Come on, they're 'stracted again!"

Rune turned her tear stained face towards Calder and gulped.
"Nymph?" she said quietly, her voice like a soft wind and rain.
Rihanna stared at the girl. She was very quiet now, like she had reached some peace inside herself.
"I'm sorry mama. I can't help it." Her eyes filled with tears again, but she quickly brushed them away.
Rihanna stood quickly, scooping up the child.
"She finally spoke! I need to go to the lab, but I will be back! Wonderful, delightful, thank you!" She spoke the last to Calder and ran out the door.
Asher stared for a moment as the door closed behind her and winced.
"She's the only babysitter that will take Irelia."

Taki stretched onto his tiptoes, managing to get the door open and pushed it just a crack, peering inside with one very wide eye, tail paused for a long moment, then twitching at the very end. "S'all dark," he whispered, but took a step inside, somehow squeezing through the door without opening it that much more.

Calder froze, blinking blankly at the girl, then watching the woman bustle back out as suddenly as she'd come in. He was quiet for a few very long moments. "Well, I suppose I can see her being one of the few people who would tolerate Irelia... She's very... High-energy."
He sank back into his seat on the couch, and craned his neck to check on the kids. "They're being awfully quiet all of a sudden..."

Irelia followed Taki inside, and opened the crack a little wider, not being as adept at sneaking as Taki seemed to be.
She looked around the dark room, and scrambled up on to the bed.
"Doesn't matter if its dark, I know my way around. 'Sides can't you see in the dark?" Irelia climbed on to the headboard, balancing on a quarter of a foot of wood.
"If we climb up on to this shelf we can grab the sword. Its at the top of Daddy's closet."

"High energy is too calm a word for her. She's more high-strung, if you know what I mean. But so is Irelia I guess so it all works out for the best in the end. I caught them playing pirates and they were so immersed in it that they drew me in without skipping a beat."
Asher looked towards Irelia's room.
"That's probably trouble. Maybe we should see whats going on?"

The cat boy clambered quickly onto the bed after Irelia. "Of course I can, I was just sayin'..." His ears were pointed forward, pupils widening as he gauged the distance to the shelf from the bed. "I can get up there!" he said, a grin creeping across his face. He wanted to see the magical sword! Even if papa had said he wasn't to climb on things, it was for a good cause.

Calder got to his feet once more, brows creasing. "Sometimes I wish that boy would take initiative to behave..." he muttered, and gestured for Asher to lead the way. "You know, he's incredibly intelligent, I don't know why he lets people lead him on like that..."
