Nikita was tired. Not that it was any surprise, considering how late they had kept him up, researching potential guardians. It would be much easier for him if they would give him some idea of what kind of credentials they were looking for, rather then just picking the most random of people.

In the small entryway to the compound, he sat tapping on his laptop, attempting to stay away: it was much to early to be up. But just in case one of the potentials that had been contacted came by, he needed to stay.

After all, they had been given appointment dates. It was just whether or not they would actually show up, or even find the place.

Removing his glasses to rub at his eyes, he sighed.

He needed coffee.

Eyeing the wall that blocked off the block containing the compound he was supposed to go to Malen wondered if they were trying to keep people out or keep something in. Either way the wall concerned him but not enough enough to ignore the summons he'd received. Usually on Gaia ignoring something lead to bigger problems down the road

As he approached the shop that appeared to be the entrance of the compound Malen tensed up and prepared for the worst. Anything could happen once he entered that building and he wanted to be ready for it.

After taking a calming breathe Malen walked into the shop and let his gaze focus upon the only other being there. " So what exactly is this about?" he inquired tone neutral.

Replacing his glasses, Nikita examined the man for a moment before offering a slight smile.

"Are you...Malen?" That was the one he'd sent the summons for right now, for, he believed. A quick glance at the document on his laptop confirmed that, and he offered a faint smile to the man.

"I'm Nikita."

The man was never the most confident of sorts, and this was the first person he'd been forced to have contact with outside of Divinity. So he was understandably nervous - although that probably didn't give the best impression of Divinity to Malen.

"Well, I explained some of the basics in the summons..."

A child, it's origins and so forth - it seemed odd to him, but he'd been assured that it was fairly normal around here.

Gaia was such a strange place.

"But to sum it up again, the organization that owns this compound is called Divinity. We've been conducting research into a, ah, phenomena that we have titled Sylphs. They apparently are just as curious about humans, so we have begun making deals with them."

Although Nikita wasn't privy to the specific details of those deals; there was a reason he worked the front, and not on sensetive details.

"They seem to have a strong desire to experience what it is like to be human. So, within the deal, we help the Sylphs become human."

Hm. Did this sound rehearsed? He was worried it might; because it was. Nikita had been fretting about it for a while, and kept reading over the little 'script' he had prepared.

"But, well...when we help them become human, they also become children. So we need people to help us raise them."

Now, just don't let him ask questions. Nikita wasn't sure how to answer any questions about it; he was nervous enough as it was.

Malen nodded slowly as he absorbed the information. Typical Gaia, handing out children left and right to just about anyone. "Why me, I hope for your sake you don't say I wasn't recommended by D-corp to your organization. I'm not exactly on good terms with them. "

Malen loved His dolphin daughter but he was still angry with D-corp for manipulating him into taking a charge the first place. Like before he wouldn't deny another child but this time he wouldn't restrain himself from venting anger at manipulation, especially since he doubted these people actually had anything on him.

"D-corp?"

Nikita merely blinked at Malen, confused; he wasn't even sure who - what? - that was. It wasn't like he left the compound often, so that was no surprise. People heard about homebodies, but he was one to the extreme.

"No, actually...I've been looking up information on various people, and your name came up. I collected the information and gave it to the higher ups - they're the ones that picked you."

Fiddling with his glasses, he seemed a bit embaressed about his next words.

"I'm...not entirely sure how they pick guardians, to be honest. They don't even really give me criteria for looking for a group to draw from."

Chewing on his lips, he considered; there were some things that people had to know about Divinity, before considering taking a charge. Like the whole 'live on the compound' thing.

"One thing...if you do decide to take on a Sylph for us, we'd have to require you to live on the compound for the majority of the year. We need to keep an eye on them, to make sure they're growing well and that the process to make them human doesn't go wrong. But - on the plus side, the apartments are free?"

Nikita wasn't exactly the most skilled in convincing people of things; he seemed more afraid of the guardian asking more questions then anything else.

Malen stared at Nikita as if her were somewhat insane , not only did he have no clue why guardians where chosen he expected people to just drop any sort of life they had to move into the compound and care for these beings they knew nothing about. If this wasn't shady nothing was and Malen's instincts honed from years of bounty hunting told him this was not a good thing he was getting into.

Still it could be important," If i say no, what happens to whichever slyph it is you've matched up for me? Also on the chance that I do agree to this am I allowed to bring another family member and a errm pet with me?" Kishi was old enough to live on her own, He and Ianna .. well that was better left on thought about at this point. But Del still needed him. if he was to do this thing he would have to have the assurance that she could come with him.

At the moment he was undecided, so much hung in the balance on what he chose.

"Well...we'll have to try and find another guardian, I guess."

Nikita wasn't quite sure how that procedure would go; it had yet to happen. He knew he wasn't the best person for the job of greeting potentials, yet he'd still wound up with this position. How was it that the least social persn was always the one to wind up with these kinds of positions?

And why always him?

"And yes, you would be able to bring a pet - and family members - with you," finally a question he knew he could answer. The apartments were picked by the guardian, and the ones who brought family or pets with them would receive priority on the larger ones.

"Listen...I'm not the best person for this, and I'm not doing it very well, so I'm sorry. I'm probably just making this even more confusing.

Malen sighed and shook his head, he was here for a reason and it wasn't in his nature to avoid things whether or not he liked or understood them. Besides there in a way a child's future at stake. " You're doing a fine job and I'll do it."

"You will?"

Nikita paused for a moment; he hadn't been expecting that, from the way it had been going. But he wasn't going to question this too deeply, in that case.

"Ah - did you want a tour of the compound, or do you need any more information right now...? We can mail all the neccessary information to your current address, as well."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:06 pm

Malen nodded " Yes, I will and I'd appreciate information sent to my house, I'd like to go home for a while and digest this. Is there anything I need to know right at this moment?" Malen was still waiting for the other shoe to drop, surely there was some other unspoken detail that was being left out.

Nikita just shook his head; nothing struck him as so vital it couldn't wait. The only major deal-breaker sort of thing like that was the apartment, so far as he was concerned. Although other people may have thought differently on some aspects.

"That's all that's neccessary for now. I'll make sure we send all the information to you."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:25 pm

" Alright then I'll be back when required" Malen said giving something of a half bow not quite sure what sort of etiquette was the norm here. That said he turned and exited the building more confused than he had entered and filled with emotions that would take days to sort out properly.
