I was wondering if anyone else here has read the book The Secret by Rhonda Bryne.
My reiki master reccomended it to me a few months back, and lent me her copy of the book. It was an interesting book, and I believe that its principles hold some truth.
The main idea of the book is that if you want somthing badly enough, and focus on obtaining what you disire, it will come to you. It says that as you think of what you want you are sending out messages to the universe saying that you want whatever it is, and the more you focus on it, the more likely it is that you'll come across it. However, it says to not let any signs of doubt cross such thoughts, nor signs of negativity, such as thinking "I hope ____ will happen." or "I don't want ____ to happen." You have to be sure that you'll recieve what you want, and think "____ is going to happen!"
Also, as you do this, don't bother to think of how it will happen. Just think of it as if you're travelling a dark road at night. You know where you're going, even though the path ahead isn't very clear. You only need to see a few feet ahead of you, and eventually your goal will come into sight.
I've tried the methods outlined in the book, and had incredible sucuss. My insomnia, which once shaped my life in such a negative way, is now all but gone. I also used the methods of the book a few weeks back, when a band which I'm quite fond of released a limited edition cd, but I ordered it too late and was unable to get a copy... but I kept thinking hat somehow I would get the cd, and lo and behold, the band announced that this week they'll be releasing a few more copies.
In a way this positive thinking is akin to magik. You send out a message saying that you want somthing, and through wahtever spells, rituals, or mantras you use, you send out that message to divinity asking for what you want.
However, is doing this interfereing with karma and fate, or is it helping shape the path which you are destined to follow? I suppose that no one can really be the judge of that... even so, I shall still practice such things, in thought, word, and action.
So discuss:
-Rhonda Bryne's book -Positive thinking -Magik/Ritual Work -Karma/Fate

It's a rather expensive book (I believe that it's about $30 for a copy of it), so I'd reccomend either checking out your local library or just spending a couple hours in a bookstore reading it, since it is a very quick and easy to read book.

Even if the book is an expensive buy, it should be floating around somewhere locally for you to either borrow or rent a copy or something.
But still, if you think about it Dreamer, if you try and impose your wishes and will on the universe, and you manage to not bungle it, couldn't that be considered fate in itself? I mean, Im not the biggest fan of pre-destination, but dont you think everything happens for a reason to some extent?

Positive Thinking is one of the best thinking types. It helps you live longer and you achive more, but it is hard to do so when you are surrounded by negative or pessimistic people.
