Journal

It's almost Christmas, it's almost christmas. after I sleep tonight to will be christmas. Christmas is when we all get presents for being good. Even the kids with no homes are having a good Christmas this year becuase lots of propel are adopting them for a few days and helping them feel loved and better before taking them to get adopted for real.

We didn't though becuase dad thought it would be bad to have strangers on the compound and Echo didn't want strangers either. It's ok becuase I could have a lot of fun without other people around. Even if the snow is slippery and i can;t walk on it good.

I can still make snowman with my bare hands even though that makes dad yell and say I'm crazy. I don;t understand it I don't really feel this cold he talks about. Also snow tastes boring when it falls i stick out my tongue but all I get is water.

I got Dori a picture for christmas I hope he likes it.

I will write again tomorrow and tell you about all the cool things I got.

Gil closed the journal rolled off his bed and raced out of his room and down the hall. If he had read the clock right, and he sometimes got it confused, then there would be another Christmas special on in just a few minutes and he wanted to see it.

A sick child is not a pleasant thing to have to deal with. A sick child with hyperactive tastes buds is even worse. You'd think we were killing him with the way he scream after every time he throes up. I understand it must taste absolutely horrid but I'm afraid of what any others wandering by the house might think. For now the best I can do is keep water by his bed for him to rinse his mouth out immediately afterwards.

I hate flu season.

I swear to god kid's today to more homework than we ever did. what's even more ridiculous is that Gil isn't even that old and he's still got at least an hours worth of the stuff every night. Both of us are glad summer is approaching becuase I don't think either of us can do this much longer. Most nights dinner is late becuase we're both trying to get through the damn work without me helping too much or his hand going numb. ( which is even worse than normals becuase he seems to have poor grasp on the thing to begin with).

The worst part is Gil already knows this stuff they teach it in class and he gets it but then he has to solve questions in a damned workbook to prove it to us at home and it takes forever and is repetitive as all hell. I doubt doing this extra work at home is really helping any of theses kids remember the lessons any more than when they try to learn them the first time. about the only thing I can understand being taken home is spelling and actual writing practice.

On the bright side Gil has enjoyed school in general and tries not to miss too many days. he has a small group of friends their and it's his second favorite resource, after TV, for learning things.

Not much else to report theses days as all is quiet on the homefront.

From student to teacher.

" No" Gil crossed his arms and glared sternly at Del " It's stupid I won't wear it.

Del sighed having somewhat of a flash back of this same conversation with Kishi a few years ago. though back then she'd not been that great of a swim teacher, now she had years more experience and a better plan than plopping her sister into a fountain and shouting orders.

"Gil you have to wear the life vest it's not safe otherwise and father said you're not allowed into the lake without it." Gil was not a small child by any means and he'd had a few lessons before but never in a lake before and in open water Del was taking no chances with her little brother's safety.

Green eyes glared at the dolphin girl but slowly Gil slipped the bright orange life vest onto his body. It was , Del noted, at least a slimmer model than the bulky old things she'd seen in the past.

* **
Two hours later Del found herself sighing as she lay on the dock basking in the sun. The warm golden rays warmed her and dried her bathing suit , they also died her skin a little but it wasn't that bad and she could use a moisturizer later. the important thing was that the lesson was over and they'd both had fun.

She's made certain Gil could tread water and float on his back while still controlling where his was going as well and proving his could do a simple breast and backstroke. they were all things they'd practiced before in pools but Del wanted to be sure Gil remembered since it had been a while. plus she wanted to be sure he could do them before she took off the life vest.

Once she'd been satisfied with that she'd watched him like a hawk while he swam with only his own skill as flotation. then she's taught him a simple pencil dive and how to correctly surface without panicking.

All in all it had been a good lesson. Next time she's teach him some more dives and how to dolphin kick.

for the first time in a while Del was really looking forward to the future.
