I've always thought Dr. Seuss was a great author to read aloud. In fact, I have a hard time -not- reading aloud when I pick up a Dr. Seuss book.

Before my little cousin went to his grandparents. (There in the In-Laws, so they're not mine.) I was reading him The Alchemyst (The Secret Life of Nicholis Flamel).

I'm reading that now! blaugh

I'm almost finshed I wanna get the Magician now. When my little cousin gets back I'll finish it.

I'm surprised no one has said The Hobbit. the book is written in a style like someone is reading a story aloud. The narrator will stop, explain, put in a witty aside, and continue.

Wodehouse!

Comedies are the best when read aloud though. Adds so much and makes the whole thing much better. That's why David Sedaris doesn't do much for me when I'm just reading his work, but when he reads it? I'm ready to pee myself.

I'm a fan of reading aloud but you've got to be careful not to pick anything too labourious. My friend and I tried reading Foucault's Pendulum to each other and it just did not work.

I tend to read silently to myself, but there is one book, once a year every year, like clockwork, that I make an exception for (along with about twenty of my friends).

Eye of Argon. Best. Drinking game. Ever.

I have yet to make it through my allotted page without giggling like a mad thing. Every time I try to pronounce 'Grignr', I just lose it. Good times, though. Good times.

I always end up reading Shakespeare aloud. It helps me understand it better, and since it's meant to be performed, it's just fun. smile
