As you entered the Great Hall for the first time in your career at Hogwarts, you sat down and enjoyed your feast. But before you were released to your dormitory, you watched as a professor stood in front of everyone, unrolled a rather lengthy roll of parchment, and read:
"1. Profanity will be prohibited on all of Hogwarts. It is neither attractive nor polite to do so.
2. Each section of Hogwarts has its own unique rules. You are to follow them at all times.
3. Professors have rules as well, and it is in your best interest to follow them.
4. Respect your fellow students (a subtle glance at the Slytherin table was made), your fellow teachers, and your headmasters.
5. If you need any advice or have questions, you may confide in myself or any of the other professors. We will do our best to help you.
6. Please do not impersonate another student by use of Polyjuice potion, cause them to do things they would not by use of the Imperius Curse, and do not give yourself powers that any ordinary student may not have by use of potions such as Felix Felicis or other means.
7. Speaking out of class must be done in the appropriate manner, by using the Di parenthesis Charm.
8. Rules may also be found in your classroom section. Is it in your best interest to read and follow these rules."
The parchment was rolled up tidily and the professor looked out upon the students. "Any breaking of these rules will be enforced by punishments of your appropriate Head of House, including detention, lines, and-in extreme cases-expulsion. When applying to be enrolled in the school, please mention anywhere in your application the word 'lemondrops.' We hope you enjoy your time at Hogwarts."
