Back in the day when Square-Enix were known as Square-Soft they released a fighting game called Ehrigeiz which didn't do so well. Years passed and it seemed that we were safe from any other FF associated fighting games but it seems we were wrong.
During the Square-Enix party 2007 they reveiled a new Ehrigeiz style fighting game for the PSP called Final Fantasy Dissidia. The game will feature characters from FFI and IX including characters like Zidane, Garland and Kuja.
So their you go. Hopefully this one will be a bit better. Or maybe Ehrigeiz wasn't as bad as I thought. What do you think? Did you like Ehrigeiz? What do you think of the up and coming game Dissidia? Do you think it's a good thing that SE are (and have been) trying different things other then japanese style RPG's?

Ah, yes, I am excited about Dissidia...
Ehrgeiz, I'll admit, wasn't that great a game, but I like it anyway... The stages were fun, and of course the characters were awesome. There was one original character I loved, Han! He was a lot like Hwoarang, from Tekken...
I'm actually pretty hopeful for Dissidia. I think they're being careful with anything to do with Final Fantasy now (or they should be), since it's so much bigger now... In any case, even if the game itself sucks, fighting with characters from different games'll be worth it.

Oh, oh, I agree with Ravenwolf on her last point. =D I've never played Ehrgeiz, so I can't say for that.
DoC I didn't like (but that's mostly because I find it hard) and I'm not sure if KH qualifies as a non-rpg...

KH was an action/adventure type game. Though it did have RPG style elements to the story that doesn't mean it was one. And if you say it is... then would you also consider the latest additions to the Castlevania series as RPG titles, because there isn't any difference in the gameplay or storyline presentation between them. Truthfully I think SE has had some really good titles that weren't RPGs; the Front Mission series, Parasite Eve 1-2, Valkyrie Profile, and.. I know it's old but Einhander was still a pretty awesome game. There are even FFs that aren't RPGs, FFT namely as well as the dozens of chocobo side games. You see SE isn't just an RPG company, it's what their known for but they're still very varied within the games they make.
and I liked Ehrgeiz, I just wish you could play as other characters in the RPG mode, not just those 2 dummies....

But yeah I Love Square-Enix for its RPG’s, although I have to admit FF-V: Dirge of Cerberus was one of the sweetest FF games I’ve ever played...And it wasn’t an RPG, So as for me I like it either way.
