Spam is kosher here. Just try to keep it quality spam. None of that cheap stuff, that's what the CB is for.

Many thanks, but titles give me hives. However were I to take one it would most likely be Pope of the Terribly Tangentital Off Track and Off Topic Ruminations. I wander.

Mmmmm, kosher spam.

For sake of argument, my name is whynaut (someday I'll think of something more clever).

My path to Discordianism was kind of an odd one (can you expect anything else?) It more or less started after I read The Crying of Lot 49. It described this world where no one knew if they were coming or going, what was going on, if things were real, imagined, or hallucinated. And I thought to myself, "that's the world I see everyday. It has no real order save for the order we adhere to it." Then I heard that The Crying Lot was considered an absurdist text. So, for about 2 years afterward I hailed the truth of absurdism as the originator of this idea.

Then a few weeks ago, I actually read the article on wikipedia on absurdism... it turns out I was way off. Absurdism is actually the idea that life is not necessarily chaos, but that life, God, and the future are unknowable. After doing some more research, I found out that I was never an absurdist, but that my ideals melded more closely with this old-fangled "religion" called Discordianism.

So, thank you Eris. From whynaut: long-time listener, first time caller.

Hi guys. I'm AgentKaz. I actually became a Discordian because I took one of those silly personality tests when I was bored of being a nonpracticing Satanist. blaugh I found it intriguing, so... yeah. Then I read the Principia Discordia. And that's that. That.

Which version, might I ask? I've read the Steve Jackson Games version myself, but others have different forewords.

The yellow cover pdf. I found it somewhere, then forgot where I found it.

I highly recommend going to a major bookstore and seeing if they can order you in a copy. Or looking for a copy on Alibris.com. There's just something about holding a hard copy in hand. 3nodding

A note about the Steve Jackson Games version, it contains an addendum with a lot of new stuff submitted by cabals Out There Somewhere. It's interesting stuff, and worth a read in my opinion, but SJG seems to regard this addendum as proprietary and fights its public dissemination. Which a great portion of the Discordian Society I've noticed online seems to think is Bad Form in general, and often simply ignores the addendum. Render unto Caesar, and all, you know. xd

Hihi, ppls. You can call me Fruit Loop the Epicly Awesome Stalker (FLEAS), or by my username. I don't rightly care which. I've decided to make it my mission to revive this beautiful haven, even if it takes me a whole ten minutes!

Greetings All,

I have just discovered this outpost in my random wanderings.
I am a regular on ED where I usually hang out and spread confusion by being annoyingly correct, and I make the occasional foray into ED-R for the occasional mass pontification.

I am the High Pope of the highly schismatic, ancient and truly authentic filed in triplicate, buried in peat moss for a year and used as fire lighters sect of the discordant church of Eris. (gosh what an impressive title, no you cant join, but I will be happy to give you a freeware copy of the principia and then schism with you)

So you've filed with the Vogon bureaucracy then? I approve. It doesn't get much more bureaucratic than that.

The cebiscus? We have a cebiscus!? Dude! I never knew! But, now I need an intro.. Hm..
Did you know? A small frozen puddle of water makes a great frisbee! Only Zedas know these things, so why would I ask you? For the same reason that I'm a complete douche!
