I personally like magic the way that it is. As a wizard... that dice for DEFENSE really comes in handy...

Though it is called COMBAT dice... and magic isn't really considered a combat ability.

Plus, the dice affect the scores diffently, like dice for attack=that much added at the end after defense. And defense is the same way, They work differently than the actual stat bonuses do.

If dice were for magic, then they would be Add X to the total magic damage dealt. Though that would complecate things, because all magic doesn't just cause damage. Get what I'm saying? An attack always does the same thing, Defense always does the same thing. Magic is versatile enough as it is now.

Just my thoughts... not trying to drag you down or anything, just offering a counter point.

I for one believe the system is well balanced. No set damage type is all powerful, but properly applied, it can be devastating. Normal damage hits just about everything, but is mitigated by defense, so the combat dice are an essential addition. Special damage is resisted only by actions or abilities, but you have to invest a lot to get it. Magic is reduced by actions and abilities, but is incredibly versatile due to spell selection. So every type of damage has it's pros and cons. It's up to you to make it work, despite the limitations.

We definately need at least 300 more spells though... ok, maybe 300 is a little much, but I was hoping we could get more support spells to up other peoples stats. In my case I would cast them on my dragon. yup yup.

Well what about all the Necro schools spells? Those are even fully implemented yet! I think we will have to wait and see what the DM's are cooking up.
