Leonard wasn't one to care about stealing; he'd done enough of it himself. He wouldn't have disliked the kid if he'd come right out and said it, but his pathetic attempt at a lie just pissed Leonard off. Lying was part of Leonard's old job, and he could spot a bad one a mile away.
"Look kid, don't try to jerk me around like I'm stupid. You think your life before this ******** matters right now? It ******** doesn't, that's what. So quit lying to me, and go get your freaking water, you girly named pissant."
Two weeks worth of frustration was being unloaded on Skye.

Dangit. Why hadn't he just told the truth? Skye's composure visibly crumpled. Though he felt like crying, he desperately tried not to show it, knowing full well that it would definitely only make Leonard more angry. Well, he figured, mind as well just spit out the truth now, save yourself the pain later.
"L-l-leonard... I'm, ah, I'm really sorry! Okay, I-I d-did steal the b-b-oat. I d-d-didn't know w-w-what else to do! I'm sorry I l-lied... I know s-survival is th-the only think that matters r-r-ri-right now.... I'm s-sorry, I'll try t-to make it up!" He gulped hard - no matter what he did, Leonard would probably think him a sissy. Taking a deep breathe, he tried to get himself under control - and his stuttering. "Okay, so I-I'm a liar. I'll go get some w-water. I know there isn't a-anything I can do to make you n-not hate me r-right now... but... well, I-I'm real sorry."
With that, he ran off into the jungle, not really to get water, but to maybe find some sticks to make fishing rods. Fishing rods would be a good apology gift, right?
