in the irish army you do 5 years then 7 years in reserve..do you still get payed in reserve, and whats the the difference?

Most likely you see a big drop in pay.

When you switch from active to reserves you DO take a big pay cut. Thats because typically you no longer actually work on base. Majority of the time though, the Army will help you find a steady and good paying job, and you still get a small check for attending the required drills and training.
