I heard different lyrics to "Notes" in the show than I heard on the CD. I think they are:

Diva tenders resignation
Cover does a moonlight flit
Half your cast disappears
But the crowd still cheers
Opera...
To hell with Gluck and Handel
Have a scandal
And you're sure to have a hit

Could someone correct my mistakes if there were any?

Nah, you got it right. Those are some of the new US Notes lyrics. Dunno why they changed them.

They also added some lines for Piangi and changed, "I trust her midnight oil is well and truly burned," to, "In which case I think our meeting is adjourned."

Also, in the London Cast, the ending of that section says: "It's a scandal that'll pack 'em in the aisles!"

Yes, I just saw it again yesterday and those are the new lyrics. in other songs they slightly altered the words as well. I don't know WHY they do it. it bothers me sometimes.

Well...they're just pricks that way.

Erhem...

Maybe they do it to see if it actually annoys people?

Some of the lyrics in the NYC cast have ALWAYS been different from the London cast. Supposedly they changed them because of the slight difference in British English and American English meanings, though the OLC still makes sense to me. I assume that most of the lyrics are still the same in London, but I don't know, unfortunately there isn't a cast recording of the OBC as the three main characters were played by the same people... they just thought it pointless. But, changing the lyrics is common for Lloyd Webber. Listen to the OLC and OBC of Sunset Boulevard. Some unimportant-seeming lyrics were changed and God only knows why, but they were changed.
I do know that after the movie, the "Seal my fate tonight..." bit was added. I was pissed. Don't change it, leave it alone.
Also, in the NYC show, Raoul's harmony in "Wandering Child" after "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," was removed. (Yes, it's also left out of the film.) Luckily thought, the first touring cast I saw, for some reason, put it back in. I was freaking amazed and so happy.

A man who felt too much
A man with scars too deep
A man whose name meant only fear and scorn

I talked to Kim Stengel and she gave me some of the altered Carlotta lyrics in notes!

"It's useless trying to appease me!
You're only saying this to please me!
Signori, e vero?
Non, non, non voglio dire,
Lasciatemi morire,
O padre mio! Dio!"

Turns into:

"It's useless trying to appease me!
You're only saying this to please me!
I will not listen!
You thus insult the honor
Of your prima donna!
O padre mio! Dio!"

I'd been wondering what happened to the Italian.

A man who longed to touch
A man who longed to weep
A man whose only crime was being born
-Erik, The Phantom of the Opera, Tom Alonso
