Dante "Xasanik" Ditello began his daily routine like he did every day. Wake up, take a cold shower due to the lack of a water heater, put on the only real outfit in his closet, and wrap his blindfold over the scarring where his eyes once were. From there, he grabbed the walking stick he habitually placed next to the door the night before and made his way to the ground floor. The down-trodden theater he lived in was almost condemnable it was so in need of repair...but Dante didn't care. He didn't have anyone to clean up for him...and really he didn't see the point.

Before breakfast every day, he always took a morning walk. It helped him feel like he was doing something with his life other than just lazing about since his 'accident.' As he walked out the door, his walking stick tapped against something...odd...frowning beneath the blindfold, Dante crouched down and began moving his hands over the strange object which was not previously on his doorstep. It seems a Jivvin egg had found its way to his humble abode.

The apartment was definitely in the realms of unbearable, the piles of boxes ready to pack things and the Gaian newspapers and print outs that littered the floor and the frantic redhead going in and out and whining about the lack of places to move to. It wasn't like there was neglect on his guardian's part, she always made sure of it, but the constant moving and unhermitting nature she had partaken of late... and just bustle around was really creeping Gaara out. He usually sat in silence as he watched her too and fro, Suika on her head with the same silent monitoring. They would drive out opinions, just watch with wonder at the activity of their owner. It was so odd. So odd, the tan Jivvin needed a long walk ... far away from the apartment and maybe Durem as a whole.

Which.. seemed like he had accomplished without realizing. His cool green eyes slide from side to side taking in his unfamiliar surroundings as he pawed his way along the sidewalk. Different houses, and the mere fact of houses instead of busy businesses and apartment buildings, and lawns and... trees. Eyes narrowed slightly, maw tightening in thought as he tried to locate himself mentally. Probably not Durem. Perhaps Barton? He had only been there a few times with chirigami and it couldn't be the Island nor Aekea or... the other busy places. Had to be Barton... what else was there? Maybe he should ask, he wondered to himself already scanning for anyone actually out and about.

Dante continued to run his hands over the strange object...the shape was surely familiar...an egg...but much too large. It was warm too...so something was definitely in there. Slowly, tucking his walking stick underneath his arm, he picked up the large egg and held it in the crook of his arm. Instinctively, he looked up for whoever may be around...he didn't even bother trying to tell himself it was no use anymore. So he just canted his ears from one side to the other, still right in front of the derelict theater.

"Hello?" he called out in a clear, strong voice. "Did someone lose an...egg?" In a lower voice, he muttered to himself, "At least I think it's an egg..."

The images of suburbia streets being filed with children riding their bikes and enjoying their days in the outdoors were a big fat lie, Gaara was finding. Not that he was a sucker to believe everything he saw on the little bit of television he watched and the movies chirigami sometimes had on, but he had expected these little neighborhoods to at least have people going about their days and just a little bit of activity. Or, like, someone to ask directions. One person, just ONE, was it just too hard to ask? Gaara scoffed, his dark rimmed eyes narrowing further and moving from confusion to down right irritation [It was tempting to fall into characterizations of hi name sake. If only he could manipulate sand like that and demolish the town, but alas...].

The Jivvin turned a corner at, his tail giving a long angry flick to deepen him mood as he stalked on. Slowly the houses were beginning to dwindle off and become businesses again, which brought more confusion on where he was. Maybe it was Durem? Dammit, he so didn't know, and most of these business were long gone and almost forgotten to tell and give better indication. And that man calling out an egg was not helping.... oh hey.

The Jivvin sped up a little, paws hitting the ground a bit harder than usual as he made his way over to the man - hopefully a helpful one - his frustration slowly. "Excuse me ~" He called out himself.

"Excuse me," he repeated for good measure when he got close, "I'm a bit lost, and was wondering if you could help me figure out where I was?" Gaara rattled off before taking a better look at his possible savor.

Dante turned his ear toward the sound of paws trotting toward him. What was that? Maybe a stray. Subconsciously, he nestled the large egg a bit tighter into the crook of his elbow while his other arm brought out the walking stick. Never could be too careful with wild animals...and from the sound of it, it didn't have anybody accompanying it. But of course...with the residents of Gaia...one could never be too sure. Carefully, he fixed the blindfold with the hand carrying the walking stick before walking forward a few steps...the stick clacking before him. What was left of his eyebrows shot up as he heard something speak. Kind of polite actually...strange sounding...

"Who's there?" he called out after the first 'excuse me,' turning his ear to better fix on the source of the speech.

"Oh...um...You're in Durem right now...You ah...you don't know what this is by chance, do you?" he asked tentatively, raising the egg a bit toward the direction of the speech.

Gaara could feel his mouth just fall open as his paws slowed, nearing man who had called out and answered to his own questions. He mentally kicked himself, but at the same time oh so grateful that Suika had not accompanied him and brought on the onslaught of mockery for asking a blind man for directions. Ah geez, he let out a slow sigh tangled with a 'thank you.'

"Still in Durem..." He muttered to himself upon getting a response. He allowed his gaze to wander the buildings, wondering when he had lost track to find himself in this part of town. Gaara had often thought he had managed to get around the whole city from his outings, but apparently not...

Returning his attentions to the blind man, the Jivvin looked upon the item that had been thrust out in his direction. He stared and blinked, and looked between the article and the face.. or large bandage upon the face.. of male. "It appears to be an egg, sir. A rather large one." Well, better to be blunt and honest. It wasn't like he knew enough to elaborate.

"Right, you're about five blocks from the clock tower to the north if that helps any," he said as he cradled the egg once more in the crook of his arm. He still didn't know just who or what was talking to him...he hadn't heard anything bipedal walk up...just something that sounded kind of like a large dog. Is that what he was talking to right now? Dante just shook his head and leaned against his walking stick.

At the answer to his question, Dante just sighed. "Well...yeah, thanks...it's warm though...so, whatever's inside is alive...I was just wondering what'll hatch from it and who it belongs to...that's all." He didn't appreciate being talked to like he was dumb...and whether or not Gaara meant it as such, it's how he construed it. Thankfully, the blindfold hid the slight frown growing on his face.

A surprised expression grew upon the Jivvin's maw and he couldn't help when his head snapped to the direction to see if the man's directions were indeed correct. It was slight, but the faint hint of the clock tower was indeed in view. "Huh," His eyebrows raised, "So it is... at least what seems to be it. Though, I'm doubtful this city has more than one clock tower. Thank you."

"... wait." He looked back, head tilted and once again confused now just placing the pieces together from the man's earlier shoutings to the new information. "Someone or something just left an egg upon the doorsteps of this disheveled building?" Though, there could have been other reasons for this man to come across this egg, but with the lack of other persons being around he was sure the man couldn't have beaten someone down and stolen or or something.

Dante just nodded and smirked somewhat...taking a slight bit of satisfaction at surprising this unknown person talking to him. He still wondered just who he was talking to...but he supposed that could be answered later. Only clues he really had were the sounds of a four legged creature coming toward his house and the fact that the speech was coming from closer to the ground. "No worries, man," he said in an offhand manner while changing his grip on the walking staff and taking a step closer, canting his ear in the direction of the clock tower. There was always more sounds of activity coming from there.

At Gaara's answer though, he turned his head back to the Jivvin. "Hmm? Well...I suppose. I just found it a few minutes ago lying there at my front door. Any idea what it is?"

The Jivvin took a moment, silently looking upon the egg resting in the arms of the man next to him. As an unusually large egg as it was, it didn't have many distinguishing marks - aside from the designs and color - to really identify the species.

Letting his tail take another long flick, "Being Gaia, it could be a number of things unfortunately. Doesn't seem to have anything that just screams a species," Gaara paused from his disappointing response - having hoped he could offer this man something in return for the aid, "It could even be something like me..." The tan creature never understood how mammals could be born from eggs... that weren't platypi.

"Aa," He quickly added in second after, "I'm Gaara, by the way. Excuse my rudeness for not introducing myself earlier." It was tempting to nod as his usual greeting, but this man obviously wouldn't have noticed and it wasn't like Gaara had hands to shake with.
