ok, this sorta started out as a rp, but then I kinna was impatient waiting for ppl to reply, aanndd so here I am all ready to start a fanfic. xd
Catherine tossed under the sheets of her bed, it must have been 30 degrees celcious in the house (I'll convert to farenhite for everyone later, sory but I'm Canadian sweatdrop ) she turned to look at her clock, the red lights read 1:32. Frustrated she tossed around some more and then heaved a heavy sigh. This was not the first night the summer heat prevented her from sleeping. As she stared up at the ceiling, a dark shape sent a shiver down her spine. She reached to grab the remote for her tv. At 25 years old she had outgrown a night light ages ago, but being an acluphobic, she discovered that a tv set on sleep mode was even better. She set the sleep for 30 mins hoping by then she would be asleep and the volume on mute, then turned and tried to find sleep once more. An unfarmiliar noise grabbed her attention, and she turned to see what the source could be but there was no one there. She stared off at the ceiling once more and to her own horrow and disbelief the shadow was still there. "I'm dreaming, it's not possible, the tv is on, there can't be a shadow on the ceiling. I'm dreaming..." Her heart pounded in her chest, fear prevented her from moving. She looked around the room searching desperatly for some object that could be casting the shadow. But there was nothing. She stared at the imposible darkness frozen in fear. The shadow was no longer still, it was slowly edging it's way closer to her. Cathering threw the cover over her head, like a child, feeling the fabric would somehow protect her. She could barely breath it was so hot, but she didn't dare move even to see if the shadow was still there. "it's not possible, I'm dreaming, this is a nitemare, I'm going to wake up and laugh at how stupid this is." She lay there, hidden under the covers, for what seemed like an eternity, shaking with fear, waiting for something to grab her, waiting for some eery sound, but nothing. Sudenly she felt a hand on her should and she screamed. "Catherine, calm down, you're having a nightmare" she heard her mom's reasuring voice. The covers lifted and she squinted as sunlight filled her room. Her mother sat at the edge of her bed, smiling at her. Cat heaved a sigh of relief. "It was just a dream"

"ever have one of those dreams, that just feels so real..." Catherine trailed off, not sure how to put what she was feeling into words. "well ya" her friend Jennifer replied. But Catherine couldn't be sure she realy understood what she meant. "what's up? bad dream" Jen asked. "ya" Catherine left it at that, she didn't want to go into detail because she was still trying to forget it.
Later that night, she fixed herself her favorite drink, left the tv on mute, and fell into an uneasy sleep. She woke to her cat meowing in the distance, probably wanting to go out. She opened her eyes and screamed, she was starring into blood red glowing eyes. The door burst open and her brother was there, folled shortly by her father and then mother. "Are you ok?" her brother asked, looking around the room "uh, bad dream" Cat responded, trying to sound more convincing than she felt. They stared at her disbelieving. Cat shruged her shoulders, must of been that movie I saw in Film class. One by one they filed out, too tired to ask any more questions or console her. Her dog was desperatly trying to squeeze past them and see what was wrong. After a quick scan around the room, and a reasuring lick, he setled down beside her bed. Cat felt better already. She knew he'd stay awake all night watching out for her. Just like when she was sick, she pet his head, and drifted back to sleep. It wasn't long untill she woke to the sound of growling, Chance, her 2yr old American Pit Bull Terrier, was staring at nothingness, the hair on his back on end, tail lowered, snarling. In all the time she'd had Chance, she'd never heard him bark or growl, exept out of frustration, when the cat would not play with him. As she strained to see could possibly be upsetting him, she saw it again, the glowing red eyes. "GET IT!" she hollered, and all 60 pounds of her Pit Bull pounced onto nothingness. Confused the dog looked up to see whatever it was still there.

The eyes turned to her, she felt like they were staring right through her, they seemed to be fixed upon a dark shadow. Then, as sudenly as they apeared, they were gone. Her door openen once more, her father stood in the doorway. "what's going on?"he asked grogily "THERE'S SOMETHING IN MY ROOM!" Cat cried "you're dreaming" her father replied simply "I'M NOT!' She screamed "I'm not imagening this, I KNOW WHAT I SAW!" for a moment, he looked like he might have believed her, but after a quick glance arounf the room he thought better of it.
