"Oy! Shut yer yap woman!" Zhinji shouted as soon as he heard Sera's voice. "So ya let me stay on yer ship, an' I'm thankin' ye for that, but by them gods, I'll be killin' that bloody eye if it's the last thing I do!" the man continued as he turned wildly, looking for the squealing ball of extreme roundness, who of course was hiding behind Sera, relieved and thinking himself safe.

"Wussat yer doin'?! Hidin' behind a woman? Ha! She won' be protectin', she won't! 'At won't be stopping me from blast yer bloody a** back to wherever in the nine hells ye be coming from!" screamed the alchemist, madly flicking the switches, turning the knobs and pulling the levers on his clever little trinket. "Oy Ji, yer in fer it now, ye are." the false and now revealed angel hissed as the whole complex mechanism mounted on him started to chug violently.

As a few seconds passed the machine vibrated and let out a huge wave of only god knows what, heading straight for Sera, or more precisely, the terrified guardian spirit, which was rapidly floating around in circles and squealing, almost what sounded like crying. The tinkerer however was pushed back, no, knocked back several yards away.

"Bloody b*****d, I'd be gettin' yer arse on a pike faster if ye didn't have me damned wings within ye." muttered the angered pirate as he hit a wall after the extensive tumbling.

"For the love of-- what the hell're you doing?"

Sera, against all screaming instinct, wrapped her wings around her body and dropped directly out of the path of the energy blast. She twisted into a diving position and spread her wings once more, feeling out the air as it stirred around her. The dive had put her at a high velocity, and the pirate dodged around the mast, heading towards Zhinji.

"Cut it the hell out!" she shouted violently. Her flight was almost unreal; she moved very quickly in the air, making pinpoint turns and unpredictable manouvres as she searched her pocket for a magnus. A couple useless ones fluttered down to the deck of the ship.

"Sera! He's firing at his Spirit--I'm surprised they're as strong as they are, with that relatioship--" Kersi's voice was distant, as if she was concentrating on something else.

"You're hittin' my ship, goddamn it!"

"I'm tryin' ta kill that b*****d right there!" Zhinji screamed wildly as his roughly and forcefully pointed in Jikaak's direction.

As the ship's owner fell towards the deck, Ji squealed again as another series of chugging and whirring noises began vibrating the whole machine which was attached to, or was wrapped around the overly angry pirate. In part awe and amazement, the chemist watched the excelent manouvering of the wings and flight that Sera had. Oh sure, he was amazed, but didn't want to show or admit it, for that matter. His wings, they had more purpose than just to fly. They were his emergency supplies, in a manner of speaking. Then again, it is hard to manouever having four winglets attached to your back on top of your normal wings.

Another blast toward poor and bloody loud Ji followed, who was quickly floating in circles, panicking.

"I ain't going ta be stoping 'till that bloody eye is..."

"HEY!"

"Get yer arse over here an' give me the damn wings!"

If Ji had a mouth... or a toungue, he would've blown a raspberry towards his charge.

"Bloody hell, I've got me a pairo' them wings too..."

Soon as he spoke, from his back, two streams of water rushed, or a liquid rather, swirling, and then... it blasted up, over the chemist's head. As the streams, the torrents of liquid landed on the ground, they were formed and shaped as wings, blue wings as the northern sky itself.

"I donnae care if this be yer bloody ship, but this flop of a guardian is going ta be no longer."

The tinkerer of doom pushed up and spread those blue wings, with feathers of what looked like blue ice, flying towards the spirit.

Sera set her expression hard as she finally pulled the magnus she was looking for from her pocket, eyes resting over the representation of what was trapped inside. She didn't want to kill the guy or anything, just knock him out of the sky long enough to get him cooled down... this was absolutely ridiculous.

"Kersi, keep me steady!"

"... R-right..."

Sera flared her wings, braking midair, and then did something that would normally by impossible by one with her wings: she hovered. A gale of wind blasted from beneath her, strong enough to keep her suspended. She held up the magnus and summoned its contents.

"Wind!"

The air near Zhinji became distorted and visible, coalescing into tangible blades that ripped towards him. Sera, feeling the squall beneath her wane, gave Kersi a break and glided out of it, circling low over the ship and awaiting a counterattack.

Leaving the tavern, she noticed something going on at the docks again. With a ruffle of her wings she re-arranged her cloak and headed away from the docks and towards a place she could dump her belongings and not have to worry about thievery. Hefting the satchel once more, it took her about five minutes to make her way through the crowds, dark eyes peering out from underneath her cowl as she entered a weaver's shop, removing her hood and giving a shocked, young looking woman a savvy smile before walking right past her into the back room.

"Hey! You can't go in there!" The petite brunette called, attempting to stand in her way, but Jackie was too quick for her and went through the door and into the back room easily, only to set eyes on an older woman in her mid-40's her ebon hair winged with white and her blue eyes reflecting a wisdom only a woman of her age could achieve.

"Well well, what do we have here... A little bird tired of flying?" Her smooth alto voice spoke mockingly, a smirk on her face as her blue eyes shimmered.

"Nae, Just'a ol' friend looking to stash her things while in port, and perhaps intrude on your hospitality enough for a dinner.." Smiling back, Calico Jackie McGurk dropped her things by the table the older woman was sitting at before sweeping her up in a tight embrace, which the older woman returned with surprising strength as the brunette just started in shock.

"I.. I... g..guess I'll continue to mind the shop then.." The younger woman stammered as she left the room quickly.

"Aww, Maggie, I don't think she likes me." Jackie said with mock dissapointment, though a grin lit up her feathered features.

"Well you are quite a sight whether you like it or not Zaniah, and Chrissy's not used to folk like yourself"
Maggie retorted with a grin of her own. "You may stay here as long as you like, your always welcome here young lady."

"Thank yeh kindly ma'm, I'll just leave my bag in the cubby for now, I've got some things I still need to see to at the docks, but I'll be back before supper." Still smiling, Maggie nodded as Jackie did just as she said, leaving the house through the front and throwing a wink to the now confused girl at the front before heading to the docks once again, it seemed she hadn't missed much as one woman was now up in the air and fiddling with a bottle of something..

(meh. why not.)

So, he had gotten tons of parts for the Ascension, which was a very good thing. He had them loaded up onto a blank Magnus, several, actually, since there were so many, and he returned in a clandestine manner, aided by Toula, back to his docks, but complications had her caught and back where she was before.

No skin off his back.

He reported back to the townspeople that were aiding him in reconstructing his ship... no, not reconstructing the old one; building a new one from the ashes of the old.

He unloaded the parts from the Magni, which included cannons, engines, and the works.

Within a few hours, with the parts, the Ascension was finished, a lovely ship, indeed.

The paint itself had been masked by the plate armor that was covering the ship; it made it a tad slower and a bit less manueverable, but it could take a hit like no other, and could still fire cannons from all sides, even from the back.

It was just... pretty dang big. He boarded the ship with the rag-tag crew of townsfolk who had agreed to come with him; those who had poor jobs, those who were his friends, and he left Sadal Suud with many tearless goodbyes.

He was glad to be away from the town, really. It was just a rustic old frontier, and he wanted to get to Alfard as quickly as possible.

(Crap post, I know.)

After the fiasco in Sadal Suud, Eronus now found himself safely nestled in his harborside apartment in Mintaka. Out his window, the Excelsior was visible, although hardly recognizable for the vessel it was. Hundreds of men were busy dismantling the makeshift masts and sails that had brought the crippled ship home, as well as repairing the extensive damage elsewhere.

Eronus himself was tasked with poring over and double checking all the manifests to make sure that everything on board the ship got refitted, and resupplied, and repaired. As he expected, he had beat the Excelsior to within an inch of it's life. To say the least, the damage report wasn't pretty. To be more accurate, one might call it horrific. The right engine, and it's assosciated propeller were both completely useless and had to be replaced, the center engine prop was thrown out of alignment, steel plating had to be removed and replaced on several starboard decks, all three of the Excelsior's primary cannons were completely dry on ammo, as well as the Pyroblaster, and there was some scarring on the top decks where the sails had been erected.

Eronus sighed, because his job was incredibly tedious and boring, but he had to take a moment to be thankful. As monotonous as his job was, Captain Ellamarie Langley was the one that had to report to the brass, and explain exactly why the E.F.S. Excelsior looked as though it had just been violently molested by three other ships at some strange ship orgy. Needless to say, Empire Admiralty was never very happy when you nearly destroyed one of it's best ships, which meant she was getting a pretty rough chewing out right about now. All in all, it looked like no one was having a good day. Eronus scribbled down the last few notes and checkmarks on the hundreds of reports sitting before him and decided it was time for some sleep. He'd spent hours working on the reports, and hoped that maybe when he woke up, everything would be back to normal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things did not go quite as Eronus might had hoped. When he woke up, there was in fact, some good news to be had, but it was the sort of good news that was designed to protect you from the really really bad news. When Eronus got back to the bridge of the Excelsior, the Chief Engineer informed him that the Excelsior was being refitted with new, modified engines. The kind which were used in the Titan class ships that were the pride of the Empire fleet. This meant that the Excelsior, being considerably smaller and lighter than any of the the Titan ships would be moving at much greater speeds. Of course, this news was the candy coated covering around the piece of s**t that Eronus had just bitten into. Ellie strode onto the bridge and stood alongside him for a moment before saying:
"So.....We're all fired......Every crewman relieved of their post, with indefinite suspension until further reassignment."
Eronus swallowed hard. Indefinite suspension usually meant you were going to be a deck swab or a dockworker when they finally did reassign you. All the same, he'd expected as much, the crew of the Excelsior, and most particularly, it's officers, never got on very well with the brass, which was why the Excelsior was left to patrol the frontiers in the first place. Eronus forced a laugh before speaking.
"Hah, how about that, they don't nail us for piracy. But eight months out on the borders and we finally start doing our job right, and then they fire us. Typical brass."
"How's the resupply coming?"
"We'll be finished within the hour. Fully refitted for some other sucker to fly."
"Not quite. We're not due off the ship until the end of the day. Are you with me?"
"Wha--?"
"Helmsman! As soon as the refit finishes and everyone is on board, take us out. Full speed ahead."
"Full speed ahead aye! But ma'am. Where are we headed? What's our destination vector?"
"Who cares? We're pirates."
