I CAN"T DO THE F****ING QUEST!!!
I talk, offer the gold, and Clavicus starts talking.
then she(?) stops and nothing happens. I can't move and I don't have the quest...

Its a glitch. You must actually go and kill umbra first, get the swrod and go back and "start" the quest, then imediatly talk to the stature once it has been started.

Arch Daemon I kept Umbra, however I ended up just chucking it in a chest in my house. It was too heavy, and the damage it dealt wasn't that great compared to my other weapons. And I already had a Soultrap spell, so it was kind of pointless. So now I go around with my arsenal of enchanted swords, moving onto the next sword when the enchantment on one wears out. And Umbra sits in Chorrol, gathering dust with the rest of my useless weapons. Just beat the chick who has Umbra, take the sword from her, then never go back to Clavicus. The sword will continue to count as a "Quest Item" and weigh nothing. My brother did that.

fencerboy OK. I HAD the sword, went to Clavicus, and the glitch happened. same here. Every time i take the sword to Clavicus,(whether i keep it or get the Masque) several seconds after he stops talking, the game freezes up. WTF!?!?!? I want to get the whole collection of Daedric Artifacts, but i can't because of a STUPID F**KING GLITCH!!!!! Maybe If i return the game disc to the store i got it from and have it exchanged for a different copy of the disc.............i hope that works.

IT DIDN'T WORK!!! WTF? I had my copy of Oblivian exchanged at the game store for a different copy of the disk, and STILL the same glitch happens! Will i ever be able to do the quest of Hermaeus Mora? I guess not, because i'll never be able to finish the quest of Clavicus Vile! F**k, i was soooo looking forward to getting the Ohgma Infinium book, too.
