My dad got that book from Amazon recently. I'm kind of tempted to borrow it sometime.

the term rationalist is kind of meaningless because theres not a person alive who believes they're behaving irrationally. What Dawkins beleives he has in common with his readers are that they are naturalists, meaning that they seek the answer to the "why are we here" question through scientific observation of the natural world. Another thing that unites athiests together is the fact that culturally we are more than a little opressed by the Christian majority.
Dawkins may be a bit more blunt that what most people are willing to accept, but he knows what he's talking about.

I'm reading it right now and enjoying it. Occasionally I feel he comes on a bit strong, but mostly I agree and am glad to have someone so sharp and quick fighting my corner.
You always need exrtremes of view for people to fall into a happy medium and we have plenty extreme theists on the planet already, thankyou!
