kingpinsqeezels So is it bad to see someone dressed modestly and think,"I'd marry them and have their babies"? Not because of the way they are dressed but because the meaning behind it? I know you can't look and someone and know you could marry them, but you know what I mean. Consult with your rabbi, but honestly, if you can discern someone's general standards by the way that they dress (and... well... you can), then I think it's fair to say "At this point in that person's life, they appear to stand for at least some of the things that I stand for, so they're someone I might like to know more about." Or, likewise, "I can tell by what they've chosen to wear that, at this point in that person's life, they aren't standing for some of the things that are very important to me. If they ever change their stance and their attire, I might be more interested at some later date." I mean, a person grows and changes with time. Today's scantily clad, pierced, green-haired punk could be tomorrow's ba'al t'shuvah with tzitzit and peyot swinging. Or vice versa. You never know.

Cause, I'd love to see something like that.

rofl Green peyot! Heh.
Seriously, probably not. It takes a long time to grow out peyot. If the person did dye their hair green, the green dye would probably grow out before the peyot really came in fully.

I've never known how they do that.

I've known men who say they do put curlers in their peyot or use a curling iron, but most won't do it because they swear that curling one's hair for the sake of vanity/appearance is only for women to do. Whatever. Most tend to just roll them around their fingers when wet, and then twist them constantly as they study. Plus, a lot of Jews have curly hair, so it does that naturally anyway.

I see! But I have seen little boys with peyot as well. It's so adorable.
And curly your hair isn't always a vanity thing. I curl my hair because it's easier to deal with that way.
