Okay, what do you think I have? The doctors I've seen can't seem to agree.

For about the last year or so, I've been having morning sickness. It wasn't so bad at first, and it would go away after a few hours. Furthermore, it wouldn't happen every day. In the last few weeks however, it has gotten much worse, now combined with vomiting and sensitivity in the upper right quadrant and middle right quadrant.

As a child, I was treated for heartburn, and at fifteen I was diagnosed with anemia. I was later diagnosed with depression. For the anemia, I take iron supplements, and for the depression, I take effexor. The effexor I started taking about a year and a half ago.

Last week, I went to the hospital and took a few tests. They gave me a chylamidia test (stupid, because I'm not sexually active,) a liver test, a cbc test and a ferritin test. My ferritin was low, and my liver was two points above what's considered normal. My output was two points above normal.

My doctor blames my drinking, but I've only been drinking sparingly, (since April, I turned 21 on the 31 of March,) and my last drink was three weeks before the test.

Of course, this was on the second try. My doctor first read to me from the wrong chart.

My psychiatrist looked up my results and told me that I should have an acidity test, because of my medical history, and the fact that ulcers run in my family.

Now, I've never missed a period. My psychiatrist also suggested I see a gynecologist to get tested for PMDD, thinking my behavior before and during my periods could point to some kind of hormonal imbalance, also causing the pains.

The morning sickness I have is pretty random, and follows no pattern that I can tell. I'm not pregnant, I just finished my last period this morning. My doctor refused to listen to my psychiatrists concerns, and won't sign for the acidity tests. She wants me to come in a month and take all of the tests over again.

Personally, I think she's testing for the wrong thing. Should I switch doctors? What do you think it is?

Eek. I honestly do not know.

I find it kind of odd that a psychiatrist is reccomending trying acidity tests, though. o_O;

Well, he actually took the time to look at my medical history. And he asked me a lot of questions the doctor didn't, so who knows? neutral

I'd definately say switching doctors... I mean, from what you wrote, it seems like the one you have now is uh, less than competant. XD And a psychiatrist has enough medical training to have some idea of what they're talking about, so if he suggested something, it's probably not out of the blue.

If I had to guess, from all your symptoms, I would say an ulcer or acid problem, or something wrong with the small intestine. I would also guess that there was something weird going on with your apprendix, except that that usualy comes on quickly and is on the middle/low right, about equal with your bellybutton or so if I remember right (though abdomen pains are really, really annoying because it can hurt on totally the opposite side of where the problem is because of the way the nerves are set up.)

On that note, I would also just mention the spleen is on the middle/upper left side of your abdomen, and therefore could theoreticaly (but very unlikely) be the cause. Unless of course you have situs inversus, which is where all/some of your organs are flipped, and on the wrong sides. I'd assume you'd know if you had that, though. XD

But I've kind of gotten off on a tangent. XD I'll leave my final guess as an ulcer or acid problem, or something to do with your small intestine, and say I think you should definately switch doctors.

(Also, I note I'm nothing like any sort of professional on this stuff. It's just something that interests me; and if I didn't know this sort of thing, no one in my family would have any idea WTF they're doing about any illness or injury. XD)

I would definitely get a second, and perhaps even third, opinion.

Yeah, this doctor is really trying my patience. I'm going back on Monday with my mom though. We're going to try and get a cat scan or something. (My mom's idea. xD ) She's been a nurse for 20 years, and she thinks it's a gall bladder issue. My grandmother thinks its appendicitis. (Although, I guess my white blood cell count would have to be abnormally high for that.) I'm gonna go with you and say its an ulcer, because those run in the family.

But then again, it could be nothing. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Okay, so I went back to the doctor today... She pressed down on my stomach again, and this time I think she was feeling around for my spine. IT ******** HURT.

But she ordered me a sonogram. The earliest appointment we could get is... next Tuesday. Thanks Kaiser! biggrin

But a couple nurses looked at me and said "gallbladder." Stupid useless organ. But I guess we wont know until I get my sonogram done.

Hope I don't implode before next Tuesday. XD

I love that show. ._.;

D: I'm not really sure though. Maybe you should talk to your doctors more, and your parents about possibly seeing a specialist?

i know that we have descussed this for a long time but i think you should switch doctors. hell i think you should switch hospitals. keiser sucks.

but then again it could be nothing and could just be stress i know you have been having that a lot lately. i dont think you should take the tests over because most likely the results will be the same, whats the point.

i say you listen to your pshychiatrist, hopefully you'll get this whole thing figured out.
