When you're traveling, be it short term like on a road trip or long term like going to college, how do you manage your books and how many do you tend t bring with you?
As much as I love books, I'm very space conscience because I like to travel and it bothers me that I can't pack light, more often then not because of the amount of books I have on me
when I first moved to college I just brought with me a select 'few' books (the box they were in was the secound biggest one I had next to my trunk) now packing up my room in college I found myself with seven boxes full of books, most of which I just picked up throughout the year sweatdrop

For road trips I pack books on CD, preloaded into the player, or else a single paperback I can cram into another bag, depending on the length of the trip and who's driving.
In college I had to limit myself to one armload or less of paperbacks, and then borrowed a lot from the library and my friends. (Required reading took up too much shelf space.)

I can't read in the car or any moving vehical (( Plains, ships, trucks and the like....although cruse-liner ships appear to be alright.)) I get motion sickness too easily, and as tempting as it is to read the books I just can't crying I don't want to get sick!
But if I am going to a hotel or something to spend a week or so in, then yes I pack a book or two usualy one of those small handheld paperbacks with tiny writing. As for on the road, I bring my DS because at least something is moving other than my eyes so I don't get sick. crying

For the average road trip (about5-600 miles) I bring three books. Usually one of them is one I've read before, so I can just pick it up at any place and not worry too much about being interrupted. I live about fifteen minutes away from my college, so I (thankfully) didn't have to worry about packing personal books. I would probably have been frustrated out of my mind if I would have had to do that, because I borrow from all the book shelves in the house on a regular basis.

I've been worrying about this. I think when I move I'm going to take any ones I haven't read yet and then the ones I know I'd want to read again. And then later when I have room I'll come back and get the rest.
On roadtrips I've only ever brought a book once. I just cant read when I'm crammed in with 64 screaming kids and my dad is reading over my shoulder, yelling at me when he sees a cuss word D:<
Once on a school trip we went to Washington DC and that was an 8 or 9 hour drive and I brought Lord of the Flies with me. That was alright. I kept it in a bag I was carrying around.

I hate Lord of The Flies. Maybe I'll go to a college near my house.

All depends on how long the trip is. I tend to bring one book for each day I'm away, plus one to start me off in the car...I always worry that I'll finish all the books I bring with me (I almost did that last time I went away).
Of course, I also bring other things to keep me occupied aside from books, but I always need to have at least one with me.

I usually make long car rides to NYC to visit family. The trip is 10 hr alone, not counting those few times I may read while I'm visiting. I usually bring several paperbacks with me, depending on the length of each.

For a long car ride I tend to bring one really thick, tiny print type book.

I usually bring about 4 books and my laptop, which has comics and e-books I've bought online. They aren't very expensive, but I usually delete them after I buy a hard copy.

I just randomly pick up a couple books I haven't read yet from my shelf. So for a overnight trip I usually bring two. Longer then that it depends on where I go because certain places I go I never have time to read, like when I visit my cousins they tend to keep me pretty busy.
