I had my freshman orientation at college today! Most of you are "Congrats" or "We don't care"... But I've got a problem. I've lived in this town for 13 years now so I was excited to get to stay in my home town and be only a 15 minute drive from campus.
Well, I go all my years " I CAN'T WAIT FOR MTSU!" .... I hated it.
The advisors didn't help at all with my classes... I've been forced into a remedial reading class because I scored a 16 sub score in reading on the ACT.
On top of that, because of the remedial class I can't sign up for any history class or english class... I feel like my schedule is being pushed off another year.
PLUS! I'm technically "Undeclared Major" because MTSU doesn't offer my major. I was going to take my Gen Ed classes at MTSU then transfer to APSU and take my major courses.... but... because I'm undeclared, MTSU is forcing me to take this University Seminar class (four days a week for a total of 3 hours a week) that's required to graduate.
I don't plan to graduate from MTSU but they won't listen... I have NO idea what to do.

Were you working with a college counselor or high school counselor. College counselors generally know more than high schools.

Is there anyone you know who has gone to this college longer than you that can help get you around and get some help?

Talk to a different advisor. A lot of colleges have a "university" class that everyone is required to take before they graduate. Just because you aren't planning on graduating from the college doesn't mean you shouldn't take it. Plans may change, you never know. Just try to talk to someone that's already there or another advisor, as I said.
I'm going into college this year as well, so I kind of know how you feel. I'm going in undeclared too, but only because I have yet to decide what I want to major in.
Good luck with everything.

you used so many acronyms that i have almost no idea what you're talking about. there should be some sort of consultant or counselor at your university (university, right?) that you can talk to and hopefully get some answers. that they are simply making you do these things is not good enough. don't give up.
