It's not what we think, it's apparently the people picking up the guns and shooting at their fellow countrymen, their opinion matters.
I'm not for extremism, but I believe in fighting for a good cause. If a war over abortion broke out, i'd know who's side i'd be on, but that doesn't mean i'd say the way is just, okay, or in anyway a "good cause" war.
We can stop this in the courts and in the government, why resort to taking it to the battlefields?

The civil war was over states rights, not really rights for African Americans. The south was annoyed that the Yankees were trying to take more power to the central government and take away the rights that they had always had before, to decide whether or not slavery should be legal in the state.
Roe v. Wade is about states rights, specifically, but abortion is a different issue...it's deeper than that. With the civil war, there was a decided population in an area. Lifers and Choicers are scattered throughout the country. There is no one place to fight from, even if fighting was the best method to get what we needed.
The odds of succeeding would be slim to none. Waging war would convince everyone on the fence that we aren't prolife at all but just want to control people. There would be almost no support financially, no base of opperations, and little public support would be gained. We'd only have people who were already prolife, and even they would probably disagree with war. It's not about being safe. It's about being sensible.

Not to mention the irony of it all...pro-life waging war?
Already "our side" is responsible for too much (because I see that one violent act in the name of the pro-life movement to be one violent act too many). Bombing abortion clinics, for example, is an embarrassment and the only effect I've seen it lead to is pro-abortion feeling more justified in saying that we are hypocrites.

Bombing abortion clinics, for example, is an embarrassment. When we say we respect ALL life...that means ALL life. I agree with that. Pro-fetus and Pro-abortion are terms that fit only a select few...people who care only for the life of a fetus and people who want to use abortion to control population. Not many people fit into those, though.
